Is there a risk to the engine if we have the slash cuts and no cat? O read somewhere that Triumph doesn’t recommend it
@TheWhiskeyChronicles-zu9vc9 күн бұрын
I looked and looked and can’t find backing by Triumph saying not to do it. Allegedly, the 15 minutes of idling adjusts the air/fuel mixture with the decat.

It’s all about preference. I keep it low rpm through the hood. And actually it’s not that loud when you’re not getting after it. I have a GoPro aimed right at the pipes is why it seems excessive.

I understand the catyalitic converter is located in the end piece (muffler section) of the exhaust, as opposed to older models where it was at the other end, nearer the headers. If you carry out the modification in this video on a 2024 bike, are you removing the cat as well?
@TheWhiskeyChronicles-zu9vc12 күн бұрын
Yes. This would be a de-cat with these pipes.
@thepub24512 күн бұрын
@TheWhiskeyChronicles-zu9vc Ok thanks, the bikes run better, fuel consumption deceases and the heat generated in the exhaust, is also vastly reduced by removing the cat converter and they say the cat converter is good for the environment? Makes you wonder.
@snake81plissken15 күн бұрын
Did you have to tune the bike after installing the aftermarket pipes? I just reserved a 1200 xe icon edition and wanted the british customs shotgun exhaust. Dont want the bike running too lean
@TheWhiskeyChronicles-zu9vc14 күн бұрын
I want to say anything 2024 and beyond you can’t tune with a power commander etc. I’ve read that it’s a closed loop ecu. After I installed I just idled the bike for about 15 minutes. This supposedly allowed the ecu to adjust idle fuel/air mix to adjust the fuel change. I have not noticed excessive heat from being lean. The only time I’ve had the fan kick on the bike was during that 15 minute idle.

I have the 2023 XE which i managed to get just before the 2025 model came out and they ditched the olins shocks and Brembo brakes. I'm around 175cm so i fitted the TEC rear lowering springs and dropped the front forks a little. Now i can almost flat foot both sides giving me more confidence, it's a heavy bike hey. Ride safe man 👍

I'm 6' 1" and I just got a 1200XC. The "X" was just too stripped down so I found a very lightly used XC with a bunch of mods already. (I made a video and will have more mod vids) I turned 47 and haven't ridden for 3 years on account of my bad back, but the XC has fully adjustable suspension and more travel than I've ever had, so it feels much nicer to my spine. I sat on an XE at the dealer yesterday just to see if I was sure, and it's still tippy-toes for me. Sweet looking bike you got though, I like the blacked-out look.

I test rode a 1200 XC (last years model) at a demo truck event a few weeks ago. Their demo unit’s exhaust sounded incredible, throaty and LOUD. My friend and I asked about it- it turned out that the exhaust was stock, BUT they removed the stock baffles. Maybe give that a shot, and you may save yourself some dinero!
@TheWhiskeyChronicles-zu9vc29 күн бұрын
In the realm of exhaust, these pipes are cheap comparatively to others. I think around $500ish. Whereas the Zard ones were well over $1k. I bored the stock pipes on my super duke and they were perfect.

@TheWhiskeyChronicles-zu9vcАй бұрын
I just use the baffles it came with. For long trips I use “ride” ear plugs to take the edge off. I’m 6’1” and I love the look of this bike and I’d definitely be using off-road some so my question would be is there any issues with that exhaust heating up your leg when you are riding? I do like the sound of those slash cuts too!
@TheWhiskeyChronicles-zu9vcАй бұрын
I have yet to really feel any damaging heat on my leg. Those factory heat shields do pretty well with stock or slash cuts. But the exhaust is cooler per se with the slash cuts. Being a short guy I always have to have my legs right on it when I’m tip toeing out of somewhere.

You're going to absolutely love your bike. I purchased a 2019 1200 EX about three years ago and made it my own. The bike is great for trails and log road road trips. I've hard mounted a 48 Liter Givi Trekker to the left hand side of the bike, triangular clear Auxbeam flood lights and medium Madstad windshield for long back road trips. The bike is superba at just about everything. I hope you enjoy yours as much as I enjoy my 1200XE.

I feel like you should've waited on the butter and use it to baste during the searing point, because smoking low and slow means it just melted off and did really not much, plus you want the butter froth for the flavor on beef. Butter just cause flare ups here tbh. Looks good though.

Did you have to caulk the shed too where two pieces of wood met? My heartland shed that’s 4x8 feet says to do this but I hear you really don’t have to, and that you can just paint it.
@TheWhiskeyChronicles-zu9vc5 ай бұрын
I did as added protection. If your T-111 siding is perfectly aligned you probably don’t need to.
@w.74075 ай бұрын
@@TheWhiskeyChronicles-zu9vc My shed doesn’t have this type of siding that you’re talking about, t-111. It’s just a heartland wooden shed and the wood is like a solid piece with no grooved lines unlike yours with the t-111 siding. It’s just a solid piece. I guess this is the best way I can describe it. Anyhow, for the corners, I do believe they are airtight or perfectly done because when I went into the shed before it was almost pitch black inside, and this was during the day. Nonetheless I’ll still caulk the corners prior to paining.

@@w.7407 I have been debating a small air vent because I want to put some gas cans in there. But I do not want them to fume on hot days and build up.
@w.74074 ай бұрын
@@TheWhiskeyChronicles-zu9vc oh you should totally do it actually, because my 4 x 8 heartland wooden shed actually does have air vents in it. It’s the walls on the side, on one wall the air vent is closer to the bottom while on the opposite wall it’s closer to the top closer to the ceiling. Apparently that was done for a reason, so cool air comes in from the bottom, and then the hot air will be circulated out at the top.
