Well, my old oil filter was really stuck into the plastic cap. I managed to separate it by pushing an inch wide metal tube up, to release the clips. It was an old Bosch filter, so that might be why it didn't just fall apart !!!.

That's sad bro, keep us posted please. I wish you had kept the Citroen because that's what I'm driving. I'm having a problem with the electric plug to the diesel filter on the Citroen? Slide the tab back and pull? I can't see anything there but it's stuck. Cheers, hope you get some good news soon.

@davidbrookes8470 I called kia yesterday, and they said the bracket is on the way now. It will be here on 5th August. Then they will book my car in(3 weeks wait) to install the new electric motor and gearbox, which will take them 4 days! Me, a "diy normal guy" can install a diesel engine and gearbox in about 4 hours! Engineers need a week! Regarding the diesel filter plugs, check one of my videos about diesel filter replacement. I always try to explain as much as I can to help others.

You need to reprogram the parameters so that the car's control unit understands that the additive liquid is at 100%. If you don't do this, it won't solve anything.

Maybe a bit late for this, but if the car is sitting around be sure to charge the 12v battery E Niro has a hefty "parasitic" current draw, and could kill the 12v otherwise whilst it waits for the repair.

@@fix-and-drive-diy-repairs I think you can also use "utility mode" (dash screen menu -> convenience -> utility) to make it connect the high voltage battery - which then charges the 12v battery. I'd guess it also does that when charging, but I could be wrong on that. Probably worth checking with a volt meter to ensure it stays above 12.5v (after the car has been fully off for an hour or so).

Any reason you don't want to keep driving it before the service? Kia seem to replace the whole motor and gear - everything - the car I just bought last week had just had it done before I bought it - so not too much risk in continuing to use it. Good thread on the "SpeakEV" forum recently with subject "Keeping car when warranty expires?" which covers this including a good in-depth summary by a retired engineer. His recommendation is to change the oil at 300 miles, and again at a few thousand, then every 10k miles after that. As for Hyundai/Kia's supplier not fixing the problem deliberately? "Never attribute to malice that which is adequately explained by stupidity." although possibly if they change the design then that's a sort of way to admit that there is a problem, and then maybe they have to replace loads more free of charge... Not sure how the law works on this, and its probably different in different countries anyway...

@Tim_Small I've seen a kia Soul ev with shredded gears in the gearbox here on KZbin because he kept driving it until it stopped. His car was out of warranty, so he bought a replacement gearbox. If I keep driving, and then it completely damages the gears, that means I have to tow it to kia garage. It will sit there for weeks or months before they fix it. My plan here is that if the car is not fixed by the end of August, I will ignore the warranty, dismantle the whole drivetrain, void the warranty, and fix it myself. That's why I don't want to keep driving it. Hopefully, they will fix it sooner.
@Tim_Small
@Tim_Small 4 күн бұрын
The dealer told me that the waiting time he had was about two months from discovering the problem until the time they got it back. They had to go to a non-local Kia dealer to get it done reasonably quickly. If you do wait out for the full replacement, then perhaps you could ask them for the old gearbox back so that you have a spare. Good luck!

@aaldashti you need to use only Total Quartz INEO 5w30 to avoid damaging silicone gasket between camshaft casing and cylinder head. I learned the hard way on my other citroen. I had to dismantle the engine to put a new gasket! 0w30 oil is very light. It is more likely to leak than 5w30 oil. 0w30 oil warms quickly, and it is good for fuel economy. Most toyota hybrid cars use it. 5w30 is light, but not like 0w30. When I owned a toyota prius, I used 0w20 oil in winter, but in summer, hydraulic lifters rattled, so toyota used 5w30 oil.

Well done on the new car. Looking forward to seeing how you get on with it compared to your Citroen diesel. I'm not sold on EV cars. All the best to you!

Thanks bro, I hope I didn't make the biggest mistake in my entire life! Faults are coming! Camera is dead and now I have a funny sound coming from the motor or transaxle! I booked to be checked on the 21st June.

@@fix-and-drive-diy-repairs oh no! EV repairs are very costly as only certain garages will touch them, so labour rates are high

@danlat1415 If the problem is too expensive to fix, I will have to part exchange quickly to avoid losing too much money and time.

Good effort but entirely wrong method. Pushing on the bush rubber and centre is wrong and can cause misfitment and damage. You MUST use the right tool for the job readily available online. Pro vs home diyer bodgit

I know brother. Sometimes when you are broke and don't have good tools, you end up doing rubbish job. I am learning from my mistakes. Lesson learned. 🙏

Great video. I'd recommend changing the rubber bushings on the air box too, as it's common for the to degrade and allow the air box to move and rattle. There are 4 bushes in total (all the same). 2 are seen at the base of the bolts that the engine cover clips to, and the other 2 need the air box taking out as they're underneath. Part number is 1422A4. Usually comes as a pack of 4. Beware some that sell individually.

Hi, I remember them, they are black round rubber bushes. I will check them because sometimes I hear some kind of rattle in the front when engine is running. Thanks mate 👍

I broke my rib 2 years in a row chaing these filters on mine. Sat on floor outside the car, leaning over the door sill, put all weight on ribs. Very painful for several weeks. Great video. Very informative

I wonder why citroen put these filters in a very strange location like that! I think most mechanics don't bother changing them.
