Decades ago, I was working in a company that also a main agent for Toshiba products. When Toshiba Japan decided to take back the distribution themselves, my company offloaded everything to staff for a song. There was a huge stereo receiver which really going for cheap but had some faults in it. Thinking back, I regretted that I missed the chance to own it. But I managed to get a SB500 faulty stereo amplifier for free. It was still in it's original box. I recalled changing the 4 output transistors to 2N3055/2N2599. This was a pure complementary output design putting out 25W/channel. Best of all, it is still inside the box.
