Both the Ozempic and the Wegovy shortages SUCK, and Novo should be ashamed of how badly they’ve dropped the ball on production. 🤦 That said, there’s a logic to which dosages are available. Ozempic is a T2D med (*supposed* 2B anyway, though many ppl use it off-label for weight-loss), and even the low doses, which are (sorta kinda) available provide good blood sugar control and Hba1c improvements. Low doses provide almost as much benefit as high doses for this. Wegovy meanwhile is a weight-loss med, and for weight-loss, while some ppl lose a good amt of weight on low doses, generally you need to titrate up to at least the medium-doses to see a good WL effect. And some will def need the high doses. So, makes sense that the mid-to-higher Wegovy doses are (sorta kinda) available, for efficacy reasons, and that the lower Ozempic doses are (sorta kinda) available, for the same reason. Of course, that Novo is in such a production bind that they have to pick and choose which dosages to provide in this manner is quite sad for their reputation, and the health of a great many of their customers. They’re trying, but this is triage, essentially. 😬
@cloakster Жыл бұрын
ps - An additional benefit (for Novo) is that ppl who want to start on Wegovy are shut out of starting on it, thus reducing the strain on production. (Though technically they’re not so shut out, as Ozempic is the same exact drug, and Wegovy ppl could try to get starter doses of Ozempic off-label, then switch over to Wegovy at the higher doses). But the whole thing is such a mess that ppl should be looking at Mounjaro/Zepbound instead. 🤷♀️

ANY weight-loss by *any* means generally results in the loss of some lean mass alongside the fat loss. That’s just how it works. For instance, if you used to weigh 250 lbs, and now you weigh 150, that’s 100 less pounds you have to cart around, and some of the lower-body muscle you developed to do so while obese will go away (unless you lift a lotta weights and eat a lotta protein). Obese ppl also carry around a lot of excess WATER weight, which tends to count as lean mass when measured. A lot of that goes away too, as you lose weight. So the REAL Q is, what PERCENTAGE of weight lost is lean mass as opposed to fat, and is it WORSE (aka a higher percentage) with GLP-1 meds as opposed to general, typical, no-meds weight loss? The studies I’ve heard of seem to indicate that no, it’s not worse with these meds. 🤷♂️

Amazing insight as usual cloakster :) glad to have you here
@cloakster Жыл бұрын
Thanks guys. Just bear in mind that a lot of the sensationalized stories you hear about GLP-1 meds’ side effects are just simply *weight* *loss.* Not ALL, but a lot. ‘Ozempic face’, for instance, is just simply weight loss. GLP-1 meds do not somehow magically age your face… there’s a fatty layer under the skin that can kinda make you look more youthful, and you’re depleting it by going back to a normal weight. Ditto ‘Ozempic butt’. And a lot of other reported bad stuff is due to TOO RAPID weight loss/too-low caloric intake… gallstones, hair loss, etc. The real/direct side effects are more like mild constipation or diarrhea, mild nausea, reflux, and in more extreme cases, vomiting. But even those are manageable/mostly avoidable for most ppl if you start on a small dose, increase slowly, and get plenty of fiber and water intake. 🤷♂️

Independent pharmacies are doing better than chain pharmacies because they offer, compounding, mail order and sometimes even delivery. CVS and Walgreens are suffering from all the looting and now they have empty shelves because of the “progressive” states. I was in New York last week and every CVS I went had multiple empty shelves, you couldn’t buy a bag of chips.

Actually guys, the US list price on Wegovy is $1,349. So, even worse than you say. 😯 And, sadly, Novo will be able to continue to get away with this for quite some time, as demand continues to outstrip supply. 🤷♂️ Zepbound does not change this, but will be a great alternative for ppl sick of Wegovy’s high price and frequent unavailability… we should see *some* drug-switchers, at least. But to truly blow up this price-gouging dynamic will take multiple strong alternatives to Wegovy in the obesity meds space, and in good supply. That’s likely gonna take a couple of years. 😕

@NiHowdy. Not a wrong one though. The whole system is messed up and over priced. You just come off as someone having a stake in that particular part of the system, so you blame the rest as if it's not all messed up and pharmacies aren't part of the problem.

These pharmacies are closing because of three main reasons; first is that big box stores like Walmart and Target are increasing focus and scope of their pharmacies, second is that online storefronts like Amazon are beginning to have the ability to act as pharmacies, and third is the fact that these major pharmacy chains expanded by like 1500% in the span of 10 years by constantly opening new pharmacies and buying out their competition. This has cause an over saturation of pharmacies in urban and suburban areas while making a lot of rural areas unprofitable. This was just the inevitable outcome of poor business practices and not changing with the times.

The future risks and obstacles would be th first thought of anyone starting a business. A lemonade stand owner first thought should be to ensure that lemons and sugar are always gonna be available. So, they find more than one source of lemons and sugar. . Someone in financial service service sector responsible for deposits of other people’s money should first think about protecting these deposits. What are the risks we will be exposed to? Can I monitor these risks? If so, how do I monitor these risks? Who should I hire for this critical job? It’s basic shit. I would not believe a graduate of Tallahassee Juco giving Sam’s lame excuses, let alone Sam himself- an MIT grad who worked at a prestigious trading firm.

RAISING MINIMUM WAGE DOES NOTHING, BUT HURT YOU. (not of my opinion, but of fact, facts everyone knows) Your allowing politicians to raise minimum wage. Acting like it’s a good thing, like it benefits you in some way. WRONG! Raising minimum wage does nothing beneficial, it actually robs you. Use you common sense, #1 Store owners raise prices, just because of the raising of minimum wage. Cancels out the benefit of raising of minimum wage. #2 Raising minimum wage lowers the value of any savings or investments anyone has. Example; if you saved $10,000 in 1985, and you still have it saved, it’s worth less than $2,500. #3 Raising minimum wage IS THE #1 CAUSE OF JOB LOSS!! Why do you think everyone takes production “jobs” to other countries? Rising labor costs. #4 Lowers the value of the U.S. dollar through out the world. That’s dangerous for all of us. IT'S A STUPID IDEA, THAT CAME FROM LAZY POLITICS

Win win for govt tax, people happy they got more p/hr but small or big business gonna add more price increases and middle person still empty hand and pocket. Plus before lower wages put everyone in lower gross income brackets. But with this more tax cuts from gross which will put you back to same spot. But people will spend more because they are delusional.
