I don't think anyone thinks about how much of an improvement these games were, compared to red/yellow/blue. Night cycles with exclusive pokemon linked to time, twice the amount of game, while still allowing new players to kind of experience the first generation of pokemon. Actual mysteries to solve and explore. Nowadays, the new games just feel like its all one big safari zone...

Pokémon Crystal was my first Pokémon game. A whole new Jhoto region is one thing, but to explore the whole Kanto region as well battle Red himself is another thing. GameFreak out did themselves with Gen II, possibly the best era.

Hell yeah, catching the scyther in the bug catching contest was so cool. Especially since I was always irritated at how hard it was to find/catch one in the safari zone in red version. I was so happy I was able to get one in silver easier and it was fun because it still was a challenge. That sound unlocked a core memory!

It's been years since (2000's) I played pokemon (not a fan) but I had this song on my head as when one of the credit themes of PkmnSnap. Well on like snap, I was never able to find this theme since I was pretty sure it was the bike theme from pk red or in that game. Funny things get mixed up.
