You can splice several sounds into one sample to achieve Elektron-style “Sound Locks”. Then with the mode switch you can change your sound set on the fly! Very creative and really great

Great. I love this update. I'd really like them to add a reverb somehow. I know there is one on the third voice but it would be great if they put a reverb on the master FX. Perkons my favourite machine in my studio.
@Noise-MakerКүн бұрын
Yeah its all digital so it would be nice if they let you modify a config file to apply FX and wav to each channel as you choose. If they did that I wouldnt ask anything more of them... Famous last words.

anybody knows max sample length?
@Noise-Maker2 күн бұрын
The length depends on the overal size. So the max you can load of all 3 samples together is 256kb. But if you decided to just load one sample you can maybe get a few seconds out of it. Each one of my 3 samples was under 1 second and that used up 205kb. So maybe you can run about a 3 or 4 second sample if you use just one.

Thanks Mark - that's really a great overview! I am no sure, if I will use the sampling feature - as the entire file loading process sounds rather cumbersome to me. Using any other sampler (Digitakt / AR ... ) would be much more straightforward (for me ;-)). My question: As long as I don't touch the samples, I can keep the acoustic hats? I would like to update - but not to corrupt my older projects. Thanks for your help! flo
@Noise-Maker3 күн бұрын
Glad you liked it! Yeah Perkons is not inherently a sampler so digitakt is way better for that. If i understand correctly you are worried about losing the algorithm on the hats but thats hard coded in the perkons. Once you remove your custom samples the algorithm returns to default. :)

Hi! What a great video - I love this. Thank you! I have a question regarding the Perkons: I like to chain multiple patterns and perform knob changes as it plays back. For example, if I slowly start raising the cutoff on Voice 1, the cutoff resets to its default when the sequencer jumps to Pattern 2. This makes it impossible to gradually raise the cutoff when patterns are chained. Currently, I’m solving this by using the Digitakt to sequence the Perkons, but it would be great to do this with the Perkons’ internal sequencer. Is there a setting for this or am I missing something obvious?

Hey Mark! Thank you for the walkthrough. My future Wishlist would be: - auto save function, so that every change to a pattern/kit is automatically saved, Nothing more frustrating than losing work because the machine turns off or freezes without having manually saved, which i find annoying. - actual 64 steps sequences with the option of switching the 4 sequencers to showing all 64 steps for a voice by switching through. That would be a game changer and could be easily implemented imho. Right now, changing the sequence length only repeats a sequence when pattern chaining,, dunno if anybody actually needs that. It‘s weird. Lmk what you think.
@Noise-Maker3 күн бұрын
Auto save would be nice for sure and your idea on the 64 steps is really interesting!

So you can MIDI set the modes and algorithms, but you can't parameter lock mode switches. The fact you can MIDI them suggests they aren't hard switched so that would be cool. True open and closed hat samples is the obvious ability gained, but could do so much with that ability.
@Noise-Maker3 күн бұрын
Ah yeah the open closed hats would be super useful with Parm locked switches.

Unless my unit was unique, audio muting was the old version. The new release allows for trigger only muting, which allows the tails of notes to naturally decay. I know this because this was my biggest gripe with the perkons, that audio muting was the only option, and sustained notes would chop out and muting was really janky prior to this.
