Common FAQs: Why no cotton? It absorbs sweat. When wind hits sweat it cools down, meaning you're now wet and cold. Moisture-laden clothing will rub, too. Won't I get wet feet with shoes? Yeah, sorta. I like non-waterproof shoes and waterproof socks - means when water gets into the shoe it can drain back out but I don't get wet feet. Waterproof shoes are like buckets when they eventually get water inside. What about shorts? Gym shorts are great in the summer. Walked most of the UK in them when it's been sunny and warm. What about a fleece? Synthetically insulated jacket does the same job but is more versatile. Fleeces have their place but wouldn't make it a priority straight away. Why is all your stuff so expensive? I was lucky enough to be given a lot of it. Buy second hand if you can. You'll get better kit for the same price as lesser quality pieces that are new.
