The sound of the cem based Osc is a bit to hard compared to the more mellow juno , to much midrange going through, the mofat filter doesn't help either to smooth it out , only the env is about right

You can turn the Neutron's BBD into an awesome chorus/flanger with a little patching. BBD circuits like the Neutron's were one of the first ways people created chorus/flanger effects Turn the delay time all the way down, turn the feedback up to at least half, and mix to about half way. Modulate the delay time with the LFO with some attenuated modulation from the LFO or S/H or even an envelope, whatever you want to use to create a small amount of movement. Viola! a flanger. If you want it more chorusy, turn the feedback down, and turn the delay time a very little bit up.

Hi thanks for the tip - I've played around with patching the lfo to the delay time as an fx, but I'll definitely give this a go :)

The thought did cross my mind that it definitely looks like I'm "fiddling" under there lol; it's a Boss MT-2 pedal that I'm tweaking the mid-sweep on. I must sort out a wee platform for fx.

Is the mixer the only thing distorting the kicks? Sounds awesome!
@Crabby303
@Crabby303 Ай бұрын
Yeah I'm sending some of the kick signal via one of the Aux outs back to another channel, so there's a bit of "gain stacking" going on, plus using the mid-sweep on the channel receiving the Aux signal. It's a great-sounding little mixer, sweet preamps and eq's.

A black MMT8 is pretty rare. Guess they made those to pair up with the HR-16B. I have the X3. Workstation version of the X5. I know a couple of people who stared with the grey one. Less sounds though. Was very useful at the time I bought it. Wild setup. Incredible possibilities with sound

Sounds amazing. Can you tell me what is “desk overdrive” or how are you getting that saturated wompy/breathy effect on the kick?
@Crabby303
@Crabby303 2 ай бұрын
Thanks again! Desk overdrive is just pushing the gain on a channel to the point the signal starts clipping/distorting. I'm sending some kick signal to a reverb unit, I think it was "room" setting, and tweaking the "room size" setting until it's kind of synced, coming in half-way between each kick.

Do you have the manual? You need a keyboard connected to MIDI IN to record notes for starters. To set the MIDI channel of each track hold the MIDI CHAN button and set the desired channel for the selected track with the -/+ buttons. Hope this helps - you can find the manual online still I think.

Nice! I just made the jump to the Pyramid after a short time with the MMT 8. My MMT was too beat up to be fun to use; those finicky buttons really killed the fun of it all! You seemed to have pretty well mastered the MMT, how do you like the Pyramid in comparison?
@Crabby303
@Crabby303 3 ай бұрын
Thanks! Yeah it's a big leap from the MMT-8 to the Pyramid in terms of capabilities etc. That's a shame about your MMT, there's a paint-on conductive fluid available that fixes them btw, I used it on both mine & it worked a treat. Pyramid is great, some of the workflow is familiar but there's a lot to learn, quirks to get used to etc - I'll be doing a vid review on it shortly :)
