@Telears it was an isolated incident and i have seen ford ikon, ford endevaour, mitsubishi lancer, maruti esteem also burn due to some electrical problem or something similar so why do people make a big deal when a nano burns ???

tata nano is a great car.even major brands like toyota and honda's got problem with their cars.honda's got problem with valve spring in honda city.only two or three nano caught fire out of thousands.i dont think its manfacturers fault.it is true value for money.

I have gifted this car to my parents in last month..and its awesome.. in 2lacs i got AC, power window, central locking, tinted glasses, body colored bumper... with 4 yrs warranty.. and i m getting mileage of 25kmpl. who else can offer this??? my request to all is just drive this car once before writing any comment..

there are higher versions that carry more features like an A/c , & guess what they have been snapped up as well. Tata is a huge congloerate who has a great presence in sectors like steel to chemicals , low end cars to high end [you are aware of the jaguar deal , hope you are aware that the tata logo also appears on the ferrari F1 car ]. They have manufactured one of the world;s fastest supercomputer which has been hired by biotech , aerospace , chemical R&D firms for their design works.

to start with the facts .. this car is not meant to be driven on a superhighway .... Its for bumper to bumper urban traffic & for rural areas for folks to travel to their fields , marketplaces in absence of reliable public transport. the manufacturers have been very open about this & have never pretended otherwise.

Its the last thing india or the world needs...at least not for the Indian market!! More viable for U.S. or Euro markets where roads are high quality and cars are expensive.

The problem with this car is its the wrong design for its demographic to succeed. Its inexpensive concept attacks the lower income population. So these people likely live in areas that do not have adequate roads to support this car. If this car is not driven on well paved surfaces it will not last. It is likely to be driven more on dirt roads, inner city roads that likely get littel maintenance in India. A few weeks on dirt roads or a few good potholes and this car is done!!

Bring the damn thing to the USA. Talk to Obama and see if he will listen. We need an affordable 60 mpg compact here. I can use our minivan when lugging lots of crap but I can be fine driving the Nano on long commutes.
