You have no understanding of *what* musicality even *is* and what you call "musical" is what has been called "dehumanized" or "depersonalized" or (you might prefer) "stylized" performance or "execution" or "reading," which is just playing the note durations as written, without the "liberties" that come from a *human* understanding of their meaning in context. (Because one quaver isn't equal to every other quaver in every other context.) What *you* call "musicality" is what a machine can do very well. It is what was *expected* during the twentieth century and, naturally, those who conformed to it were idolized and those who didn't (like Yepes) were denigrated, as you continue to do in your backward-looking view. You "don't like the liberties"? No! You don't *understand* the liberties!
