I have woodworm in the floorboards and beams of my house. What would be the cost of getting my house to a freezer big enough, or perhaps building a freezer around my house for 3 days? I'd rather not do this because it might be considered by some as insane.. Oh and the environmental impact would be significantly higher than the localised toxic chemical used for this task.

Its a great product and video, but, FFP-3 masks and FFP-2 masks and all filtering face pieces don't seal properly with beautiful manicured beards like yours or facial hair. You'll find that info on the masks product label.
@johnwharton8723
@johnwharton8723 2 ай бұрын
They do actually seal if good enough quality and tight fitting, stubble is the hardest to get a seal. But longer hair lies flat and allows a seal, this is why you see guys in the Military with either no stubble or beards to allow for sealing on firefighting facemasks.

Hi, the woodworm killer would not be suitable to be applied over polished oak/mahongney as would not be able to penetrate deep enough to combat the infestation. Any previous coatings need to be removed first and then re-applied after treatment has been completed. Can you render over this
@PermagardCoUk
@PermagardCoUk 6 жыл бұрын
Hi Craig, Yes the mesh membrane will accept a render or plaster. The preferred plaster would be Tarmac Whitewall applied in two coats each of approximately 6mm thickness, followed by a minimum 3mm skim. The undercoat should be pushed in firmly to fill the studs. This is scratched and once set the floating coat is applied. A cement-based render is also acceptable but this would require 7-10 days curing time between coats as shrinkage cracks may appear.
@Daisy-ef6bq
@Daisy-ef6bq 6 жыл бұрын
Rather than use so many blue plugs can it be attached to the wall behind treated timber battens? My play was... a layer of this membrane, over that vertical timber battens every 600mm to hold the membrane in place, in between the timber battens will be 50mm deep of insulation, then on top will be plaster board, then a finish coat of plaster. So the membrane won't be supporting anything really, the timber battens will be supporting the plasterboard etc.

Hi Cocat - Thank you for your comment. Yes the way you have just described is another way to install and finish the waterproofing membrane. The installation can be carried out with our PermaSEAL 8 Clear membrane which we provide in a kit with all the necessary plugs, jointing tape and membrane here: www.permagard.co.uk/waterproof-membrane-kit-40m. If you have any further questions please feel free to contact us.

What happens to the dampness, water behind the membrane. I have an old granite house and bedroom at top of house has dampness. At the moment dampness comes thru wall, with membrane in place would water run to floor below?
@PermagardCoUk
@PermagardCoUk 6 жыл бұрын
Hi Martin - We would not suggest that a cavity drain membrane is applied at first floor level or above due to complications that can occur through condensation or major faults in the exterior wall and subsequent water ingress. Waterproof renders and plasters would be more suitable.

Burton Nelson Hi Burton, Thanks for your comment. The main reason for the quantity and spacings of plugs is due to the weight the mesh membrane will have to support either in render or dabbed plasterboard its essential 250mm max spacings are used other wise you could risk movement in the membrane and cracking or even de bonding of finishing surfaces.
