Until it stopped porpoising I thought the run would end in disaster. Then it settled and achieved an amazing top speed.

Yeah, there’s no speed limit at the LOTO. Who F’ing cares! Why have a boat that’ll exceed 100mph easily, and obey an absurd speed limit You can outrun radio at the LOTO, just have to have the ability to hide your “numbers”. lol

You know how this works, right? The owner, who probably enjoys carnival rides, but knows little about boat at speed, gets to "drive" the boat, that is he sits behind the low speed only wheel, while the throttle man accelerates and steers the boat with the throttles.

What a dickhead. I won't try to defend Sheikh Hassan from your scurrilous taunts except to say he's been racing Class1 for years. Steve Curtis wouldn't have agreed to throttling QATAR if he didn't think Hassan could drive the boat. Hassan loves racing boats and he loves boating. That's good enough for me.

Seems like all that water shooting up in the rooster tail would be more effective if it were pushing against water instead of air. Seems like a lot of waisted energy. But I'm sure they have the hydro dynamics worked out to perfection. The wasted energy is in the heat the engines expel thru the exhaust.

Its following the path of least resistance. Safe to say considering the size of the tail its running a surface drive if the drive was further in the water causing more of the forward thrust against water it would cause a lot more drag and be less effecient. More prop blades equals more surface area cutting through the air then into the water equals less drag

This boat uses M8 drives, actually, but they also run only partially submerged at speed. Amazing that 1350 hp is "connected" to the water by a few blades of a prop.
