Runners don't measure speed, they measure their pace. So, 20.8 kph is equivalent to 2 mins 53 secs per km, or 4 mins 38 secs per mile. Keeping that up over a marathon distance is amazing.... one day someone will break the 2 hour barrier for the marathon.
@razcohen55907 жыл бұрын
GonzaJ01 probably but not in the near future. It will most likely go down bit by bit until someone will break the barrier. That is of course if it is to be done in a proper competition certified 26.2 miles with these top level athletes competing against each other and not in some artificial way like on a treadmill at 50 meters below sea level with food and drink whenever the athlete wants it and also under the assumption that the athlete that breaks the 2 hour barrier is doing it clean... otherwise it can be done sooner rather than later but will be completely meaningless... Still exciting to see where this goes...
@Psysso7 жыл бұрын
it could be done with top 4 runners pacing the best of them and with loads of EPO , steroids and other stuff. But that won't ever officialy happen for some time.
@LGcp3597 жыл бұрын
RC 1986 Somebody just ran 2:00:47
@josephgonzalez_7 жыл бұрын
LGxCP yes, Eliud Kipchoge of Kenya ran 2:00:25 at the Monza F1 racetrack in Italy. It was a brilliant effort but the circumstances were a bit artificial: pacers all the way, at all times shielding him from the wind, motorbikes delivering drinks while he was at full pace, a flat racetrack with gentle corners, and it was a closed door event- witnessed only by those involved . It was a marketing event for Nike really, and they paid him a lot of money to miss out on London Marathon and others so he could stay as fresh as possible. Adidas are going to try it but this time at a public event I.e open to external scrutiny.

Who made this? Wouldn't the most basic logic, knowing that the marathon is 42.2 km (rounded), tell you that 2 hours for a marathon is 21.1 km/h. Where did they get 20.8 from?
@nghiemtrid9 жыл бұрын
The world record for running full marathon (men) is 2:03:23 (2013 by Wilson Kipsang- a Kenyan runner), then came the speed (~20.54km/h)... The different is not so large (20.8 vs 21.1 or 20.54), so you probably couldn't recognize it via the clip, but you can imagine approximately how it looks like bro!
@grgfrg79 жыл бұрын
he seems to have the wrong distance for the marathon. notice his 2 hour pace is twice his 4 hour pace so clearly he thinks a marathon is 41.6. His 3 hour pace also supports this theory with rounding to the nearest tenth
