My theory is that the Union Pacific diesels were trying to stop the NYC Mohawk not because they wanted to take him to scrap, but because he did not belong there and he was wanted among the US locomotives. (In this episode all steam locomotives you see are just chilling and doing their job, maybe one clip showed some of them being dragged away by a diesel but other than that, only Mohawk was the one chased by the Diesels).

This whole series is honestly incredible, and is a testament to Ron’s skills. Even today, some of the shots and visual effects are astounding(namely the brake effects, they still look so good)! The fact that this homemade YT series still puts modern day Hollywood movies to shame honestly just goes to show how amazing it truly is. This series will always have a place in my mind and my heart. Thank you for being a piece of my childhood, Ron. I may have been late to the party, but I will never regret showing up.

Well that comment i wrote 13 years ago about Mohawk 3001. Looks like it has come true. Hopefully in another few years we will soon hear the sound of a mohawk's whistle just like in this series again.

If there was a way he could've won unrealistically as the good ending, he, the Mohawk, could've had a gut feeling before the diesel rounded the corner and kicked into high gear in reverse. Since the diesel behind him had its traction motors blown, there's almost no stopping him. The freight rounds the corner and almost touches the mohawk but he speeds away in reverse in time. With the help of the switch, the diesel rocks then with a quick uncouple, the diesel behind is thrown off the tracks by the Mohawk. The freight races by seconds later as the Mohawk stops and kicks into high gear in forwards then gets on the main after the caboose and races on. What happens next, probably he'd meet, amazingly, a F7 diesel who appreciates steam engines and a southern pacific steamer as they had just came over the mountain with the steamer as the back pusher. The diesel leaves but the steamer agrees to assist the Mohawk on its last leg of its journey. Word gets out so on the other side some bounty hunters stop them but the southern pacific steamer sacrifices itself by plowing into the diesels and pushing them onto a sidetrack letting the Mohawk escape. The Mohawk, tired but triumphant, travels on. Sudden chased again later, he races as he's only a few miles from his destination. Sadly, when he reaches, he hits the buffers at the end of the track and having a very loud crash onto earth but then the man who the Mohawk was looking for appears as he comes out of a building, he sees the devastation, and, after a long journey, stops the diesels and their crews and purchases the Mohawk right then and there as it lays in the dirt. After rerailed, the Mohawk happily is taken to his new home being safe and in preservation. this is complicated fictional but we all have these gut feelings sometimes. The Mohawk had suffered a lot of wear and tear on his journey as his paint was faded in this video vs his escape. While throwing a steam locomotive into reverse like that destroys pieces and bends the rods, it wouldn't matter on this situation from the condition the Mohawk already is in. This move and gut feeling would've saved him barely and briefly. His gut feelings maneuver would've made it so the freight train on the same track would've been avoided maining he'd have a clear path for the moment. Now, for the general thoughts, i love this series! It's part of my childhood and won't be forgotten. Rest in peace Mohawk, not all stories end in success and happiness. Something that is a jewel in stories as for how it doesn't always happen.
