I first heard these a month or so ago here in southwestern Ontario. I sent an email to the local University engineering faculty to see if they were doing any experiments but they didn't respond. The signal was very strong so I assumed they were local. Thanks for the clarification. Would like to learn more. Because of the bandwidth they occupy and the strength, I find them to be disruptive. They do tend to land on frequencies that contain utility signals, so as an SWL I oppose them. They also seem to frequency hop. I've heard them around 10.8 MHz, 13.9 MHz and 14.5 MHz.

Wow! If only I had the ability to decode that stuff. I would finally be able to buy that top of the line ICOM transceiver I've been eyeing.

Twitter is a absolute cesspool, more people need to start boycotting it.

So, besides identifying what is causing the noise, of what use it it us? How do we decode/decrypt the signal? I bet there must be some smart computer hackers out there that can break it.

Good choice. Less static and noise.

Is there a difference between the amplifier in the MLA 30+ and a standard LNA?
@OfficialSWLchannelКүн бұрын
It depends on the amplifier, they are not all equal, although the MLA 30 is low noise, there are some that are more capable

First, I will join both Facebook and Bluesky accounts to follow additional content. Second, BlueSky was launched by the former Twitter CEO that has almost all of what Twitter has. There is no for you that Twitter had that showed suggestions based on Twitter content history. X is getting more restricted in use for all accounts except for accounts with the blue verified subscription. More people are going to BlueSky. It will take time for BlueSky to be like Twitter before.

That must be some heavy encryption on that, the modulation / encoding sounds so uniform.

This should be banned! The public airwaves should not be used so large corporations can make money on the markets with high frequency trading.

Crazy. I haven't heard/seen them yet. Now I know where to look... I don't have a problem with them doing it, as long as they're respectful users of the RF spectrum, like we hams try to be.

Hello. I'm a newbee to the sw radio listening world and all the jargon. You lost me when you started talking about different HAM bands, 20m, 40m and so on and their relation or where they fit on the sw frequency range. Are there youtube videos I can watch to learn about this and how would I go about listening to usb lsb if I'm not familiar with any HAM frequencies yet. I just got a D-808 but am feeling a little intimidated.

It's a pity that radio amateurs are limited in bandwidth of transmission. We are not allowed to use more than smallband like 6 kHz. Why not using more and transmit all information in half a second unlike ft8 for a minute.

I'm going to have for 30 years and I couldn't care about crypto at all. But just the fact that these greedy Bitcoin millionaire billionaire people you know they got to use direct HF RF to make their transactions and generate noise all throughout the band yeah just wait till he put one of these near really really close to the band edges. I don't think these things should be on the air they're nothing but interference producers. They can put one of these transmitters on any cell tower and if that cell towers close to You broadcasting out at 20 kW signal on HF and you have an HF rig I'm sorry to say you're going to have some interference problems. I don't think these things should be allowed on the air all they do is generate noise and make money for a bunch of people who already have money. And here's something to think about with Elon Musk in there right now and all his satellites I worry about him saying the president dumbass and I'm sorry if that offends anyone but I don't care hey let's take all the ham bands and use them to make money I can see that happening. We must protect our spectrum whether it's MF lfh VHF UHF etc. because private interests look at them spectrum and have dollar signs in their eyes. And what's the current clown show in Washington DC I could see oh yeah I'm going to give the 70 cm handband to a satellite company I could see that happening

This code is something else... Looks to me like they're sending coordinates, times and names and something regarding a transport of equipment. A suspicious rendezvous of sorts, you should send this to the FBI or NSA.

I am vehemently opposed to any commercial use of public space. Is there a way to decode what they are transmitting? Or is it encrypted?

OTHR is very much a big interference producer as it just blasts out sounders looking for MUF and then fires up with vigor when it finds a suitable frequency. And in the southern latitudes, we have a huge problem with pirates in certain nations using any frequency they like for chatter. Many of the MWARA air frequencies in the 35m 8Mhz allocations have to contend with indiscriminate chatter +/- 1kHz away. Have not had any issue with HF traders so far, but now I know what to look for thanks Gilles!

many transmitter sites we hear are located near Chicago and other major eastern cities with large financial centers... Between these and the multitudes of OTH radars, many of the MARS/CFARS channels are heavily interfered with.
@mikechace-ortiz4180Күн бұрын
Most are located around the city of Aurora, IL. They are all licensed under FCC experimental licenses, so can be found in the public database. There are a few Canadian HFT signals around, also registered in Canada's Spectrum Management Agency, also have most of their TX facilities listed too.

When it ends up messing up traffic in an aeronautical band or another utility, then something may happen to these transmissions. It’s about safety.

Don't be silly, that's just wishful thinking. It doesn't interfere so nothing will happen. Stop hoping for interference to pop up so that the FCC will do something. It's embarrassing.
