I am still a huge Frasier fan, for me at least the humor wasnt dry, but this revival of the show... is a miss, the humor is mostly not there, it feels too dumb, or forced I dont know how to describe it, the funniest character there is Alan, Frasier friend, rather than Frasier of any of the other characters, and Frasier son... is sooo anoying as a character, and not in a funny way.

Great Review, very fair points. Not to mention you took your time in researching the movie production and even the book author. Very proffesional and yes, Alive was too much a Hollywood movie, it shows too much, they even added drama because they though it wasnt enough aparentely, not to mention unnecesary gore. Also, a small "correction" I can make you regarding the information is they didnt shoot per se, on the crash site, it was too remote and dangerous for the actors and crew to actually shoot there, but the director took a small crew and filmed scenery at the real crash site, then the actual filming with the actors was made in Spain, in the real snow mostly, and those exterior shots were combined with the shots the director took on the real site. And regarding the frostbite question, they had extra clothes, and used layers as well as the seat fillings to stuff their clothes, not to mention that when it was too windy and cold they would get inside the wreck and cover the hole, to shield from the wind and that also woudl preserve a bit of their body heat inside the wreck,other detail we see in the movie is how when they are inside they usually spended their time talkin about food or anything, and also massagin each other toes and foot, that would prevent forstbite, the friction of the massage generates a bit of heat in the area but also it helps the blood flow wich also helps to keep the area warm with good blood circulation and oxygenation to the cells. And may I add, the accident happened just finishing winter, so it was becomming warmer, slowly, thats why despite the cold they had the issue that almost everyhting was wet or damp.

If Society of Snow deserves a B+, Alvies deserves a Z- because it was really bad 😂😂😂 By the way it wasn’t cannibalism it was NECROPHAGIA! Which means to eat flesh in decay, corpses or carrion. Cannibalism is what Jeffrey Dahmer did and went to jail for. Cannibalism is such a derogatory term under these circumstances. About the lighters, i assume many of them had their own. It was pretty common even for young people in Uruguay to smoke then. Besides, Methol, one of the survivors was carrying a suitcase of cigarettes, his family owned a tobacco industry. And also remember that they checked every corpse, and put to use everything they thought it could be useful for their survival. There were 45 passengers and only 16 survived.
@allthingsentertaining32810 ай бұрын
😄 Overall its better than a B+ movie. The storytelling was just my perception of dialogue and pacing. This is definitely a top tier movie. Thank you for the other info. I knew others had more info than me and I was correct.

They had lighters but there was not much they can use for fuel. The environment had rocks and snow and nothing else. The plane was made of metal. The survivors did burn some books, cash, and a few soda crates, but these were few and didn't last, especially with the low oxygen level at that altitude. They also had some clothes, seat covers that they used as blankets, and seat cushions but those were obviously more useful to cover yourself up than to burn. As for frostbite, the survivors used to massage each other's limbs to keep the blood flowing and avoid frostbite. No one taught them to do that. They just started doing it instinctively and it turned out to work. When Numa and the other two got caught outside at night, they returned to the plane half dead with their skin dark purple and the other survivors took turns massaging their arms and legs for over 5 hours so their bloodflow returned and no one got frostbite. They did get some minor forms of frostbite on their faces (which is shown in the makeup) but they were always good about covering up and taking care of each other so no one lost a nose or ear or anything.

@zeinaalawar10 ай бұрын
@@bruckycv1335 they did, but very briefly. There were at least 3 occasions in which they made fire and cooked the meat at the fuselage before they ran out of burnable material and then they found some more soda crates in the tail and they used those to make fires a few more times. One specific time was when they were trying to fix the radio with Roy Harley. This is mentioned in both Alive and Society of the Snow books as well as Canessa and Parrado's books about the subject. Yes, the wetness was one of the factors that made it difficult to light fires, as well as the lack of oxygen, but the main reason was the lack of things to burn

Please don't belittle people who can't read subtitles or for whatever reason choose not to. The point of this story is to connect us all on a human level not to gate-keep on whether they watch the dubbed version or the subtitled version.
@minyrar710710 ай бұрын
@@DianaWoods-n7rit was a suggestion and it is well intentioned. Truth is that in the movie the actors are speaking with the Uruguayan (rioplatense) accent, the production took care of every detail, even the words they were using, making sure no modern words were incorporated into the script of by any of young actors. It is more authentic and the emotion is more palpable. I understand that someone who doesn’t read prefer to watch it in English or any other language, but if you can, watch it in Spanish.
@allthingsentertaining32810 ай бұрын
I go back and forth with watching films in their original language with English subtitles. Its really up to if I feel up to it on a particular day or not. I will say it makes a difference in how I perceive the acting and emotions. It is so much better listening to a movie in the original language. I felt this film wouldn't need me to use subtitles to convey its depth. I was right. But your suggestion is a good one.

This title says it all. My biggest complaint is how they are rushing through the story by mashing up episodes instead of just having more episodes. They did a lot better than i thought was coming but it could have had 30 episodes a season and been the best live action show ever just like the cartoon is the best ever.
@allthingsentertaining32810 ай бұрын
I agree. Its like Netflix neuters series by limiting to 8-10 episodes a season. That may work for some series, Stranger Things for example. But adaptations my need a bit longer to incorporate good original character development or fan favorite scenes. I think this season if it was gonna be an adaption of book 1, should've been 13 episodes. I think that would've given the makers enough time to incorporate more of the OG series that makes sense live action and still limit studio costs.

The President in the BOOK, you know, the Book that the movie was based on, was from Texas. So was not random. Also do not think they would change the whole story for you. Other people have had some problems with the accent too. Because they saw the Actress. Not the character. It is best to "see" the characters in shows. Is less confusing. Also, it 's the best way to get into the story. Not the casts past work. I saw a Female President from Texas. Not Uma Thurmon playing a President from Texas. Try it next time. Makes a big difference .
@allthingsentertaining328 Жыл бұрын
Congratulations. You actually made me go back and watch my video again. Because I was sure I made myself pretty clear on that one character. And I did. Firstly, I admitted why they HAD to make her from Texas, more ambiguously I said why they made her Southern. The story necessitated that location and I conceded that. However when an actor or actress accepts a role, it their job to convince the viewer of their character as being genuine. You're supposed to see the character, not the actress. That's the whole job. If you do your job well, we don't notice who's playing the character. As an actor, you're there to service the story, not the other way around. So to that end, Uma Thurman did do a great job pulling off a Southern or Texas accent. That doesn't speak to her character's commitment to her family or job. That was done pretty well. Accent not so much. I appreciate you had a different experience than me and that's cool. Movies are subjective. But please refrain from telling people how THEY should watch or enjoy the film. I saw Uma Thurman attempting to play a female president from Texas. You had the opposite opinion. Neither of us is right or wrong. We shouldn't structure our opinion as fact or to downplay someone else's opinion. But I do thank you for watching and offering your thoughts.
@donny1960 Жыл бұрын
@@allthingsentertaining328 When you refrain from being critical. I will also think about about doing the same. A person giving an opinion has to be "convincing" in order to be genuine. Otherwise it comes across as just bitching. I will consider your suggestion. I think it only fair that you also practice what you preach. Seems the fair thing to do. It always makes me smile when I am told to refrain from giving my opinion, in order to protect someones right to have their opinion. Seems a bit hypocritical. I was not saying you can not say what you say. I was reacting to your comment. Same as you were reacting to the movie. But somehow I get the impression I am not allowed the same rights.
