Thank you for the video, I have been hoping to get an idea of how spacious the cabin interior is and your demonstration is perfect. I have climbed into a boat before, and have been shocked at how tight things are-like the Cape Dory Typhoon-the quarterberth was extremely cramped. Hoping to get a Suncat tomorrow!!!!!!

It is huge inside for a 17 foot boat. You will love the Suncat for sure.

I would suggest the center area. You can arrive early and enjoy drinks and some food from from the vendors. Download the app and you can order from your phone and they have wait staff to deliver the food to your table. Also you can prepay for parking off Jackson Street if you use that south entrance the attendant scans your qr code

Good to know ! I bought 5/16 for my 35 lb anchor last summer.
@triton_66333 жыл бұрын
I just bought (from a UK source) and installed one last summer, haven’t yet anchored with it (because we’ve been just doing shakedown and day sails). Didn’t really have a lot of house battery capacity for an electric windlass but it still should save my rotator cuff. Thanks for posting.
@ridemfast76253 жыл бұрын
Have you towed with the boat loaded on the trailer? Trailer probably weighs 550 lbs. Altima tow capacity is 1000lbs, 100 tongue weight. You may have exceed the tongue weight with trailer alone though.

I am going to use the file sander to get up into the recessed area of the hull to deck joint. I wanted to lay up glass and make that area beefed up.

@@Hindukushsailing I see...I’m gonna take a peek at mine (thinking of visiting her this we)...just never looked that close at the joint
@BryanSailing3 жыл бұрын
Looks like a good plan. If it was me I would just use thickened epoxy or whatever as your filler on the coosa to make sure you have no sharp edges and put a few layers (2 or 3 layers of 1708 or equiv.) of glass and it will be more than strong enough. Make each layer an inch or so wider each time.
@Hindukushsailing3 жыл бұрын
I agree and thank you for the input. I enjoyed all of your episodes so far on your Catamaran rebuild. You show a great amount of tenacity and a positive can do attitude. Those are admirable attributes we should all strive for.

James Baldwin's boat?
@Hindukushsailing3 жыл бұрын
Hello Keel Dragger how is the new Sailboat? She looks awesome. Yes that was Mr. Baldwin's Pearson Triton Atom. The other. Pearson Triton was Osprey and James did the rebuild on that Triton as well. He installed the outboard motor well re rigged her just about everything. If you get the chance on his KZbin Channel Atom Voyager he has many very good clips of these rebuilds. He made them into the Pearson Triton Voyager edition. To me they are like the Willey's Jeep of Sailboats. Small tough and simple.

@@Hindukushsailing The Valiant 40 is amazing. I really loved the Dana 24 but dreamed of a little larger boat for extended cruising. So far no disappointments on the Valiant. At some point I'll need to think about rewpowering and updating the standing rigging, but she sails incredibly and is very comfortable. I'm a big fan of James' work and I've followed his KZbin channel for a few years now. Old Person Triton's and similar classic plastics remind me a lot of my old 1970 Tartan 27.

I just wanted to make it a little more robust. We will see how it comes out so fingers crossed I get it right. I need to get a electric file sander see if that makes the work easier. How is you Sailboat? Saw your last video.

@@Hindukushsailing The glue boat builders use to connect the deck is the primary fastener, the bolts corrode and leak over time, interesting that they're not really needed. I need to start replacing the bolts and seal once the weather is warm enough for epoxy to cure to seal teak plugs. I've lotsa deck leaks because of this.

It is starting to dawn on me. That I am under estimating the length of time it takes to preform the work. In my head it's only a couple of hours but in reality something else pops up. I have not worked with glass yet so I have a bit of learning curve ahead me. Your ahead of me on that aspect with your Jim Michalak AF4 build. Which was a boat I always liked. Your new Sailboat is a beauty she looks really well built and has exceptional joinery work on the inside of her. Thanks again for the comment.

I wish mine was just in half as good of shape as that boats starting off in. There was paint flaking off the inside the bunk on the left was rotted out due the icebox. The mast post was sagged. It did have a full tank of diesel fuel lol Your going to have a nice looking American made boat when your done.
