Met Big Jim a couple of times. Fun fact: back in the 60s there were two session guitarists called Jim, so to distinguish them one was called "Big" Jim. The other Jim was Jimmy Page.

Big Jim could read, Little Jim couldn’t, so Little Jim just got rhythm parts, until they needed a young face to throw in rock’n’roll lead lines.

Big Jim and Vic Flick played all of the guitar on Beatles records up until SPLHCB!!!
@julyanpaul3688 Жыл бұрын
It's amazing that, when performing live, The Beatles themselves managed to reproduce the sound of Big Jim and Vic Flick so closely. You wonder why they bothered with the pretence in the studio.
@iracknads Жыл бұрын
@@julyanpaul3688 I didn’t say they couldn’t play. They could chop through something like Day Tripper, but nothing more technical. They stopped playing live in ‘66 because after Paul was ritually murdered, Billy his replacement was five inches taller and didn’t look anything like the original.

That was actually the last time that you had all the surviving Shadows at the time sharing the same stage. Jet Harris was gone within 2 years and Licorice Locking died in 2020. Rather astute of Marty and/or his management
