I think these maintenance videos are great. I followed the one on the Abu pro max and mine is smooth as butter now. But I have a Revo X that was giving me a problem towards the end of the season. Occasionally the thumb lever will partially or fully disengage mid cast. When it fully disengages it’s like I turned the handle and the lure stops dead mid air. When it partially disengages I hear a click and although the lure keeps taking line off the spool the handle starts turning rapidly. I was hoping you might have an idea of what was going on and maybe what to look for when I tear it down. Thanks.
@chickenthighfishing5 күн бұрын
Well there’s a few things it could be. You likely have a broken or worn component. If you were to remove the side plate and depress the thumb bar you would see several components engage to include the thumb bar itself, the kick lever, the yoke to name a few. The yoke is plastic and you can break it. I might suggest that you remove the side plate of your Pro Max. Then do it to your Revo that’s giving you problems. See if you notice any obvious differences. Those reels are the same but different if you know what I mean. Depress the thumb bar on the Pro Max and watch the components do what they’re supposed to do. Just watch that when you do the yoke and the two yoke springs will pop up. No biggie. You just have to put them back. I bet by comparing the two you just may be able to identify where your issue is. Or watch my video on the Revo X and do a cleaning and see if any parts are missing or deformed or broken. Good luck. Let me know what you find. Sounds to be like a part is broken or there is some tension missing somewhere.
@back-corner-turnings5 күн бұрын
@ thanks. The comparison seems like a good starting point.
@back-corner-turnings4 күн бұрын
@@chickenthighfishing I believe I found the problem. When I pulled the handle side plate off there was a piece that seemed to be just sitting there on the housing. It took a while to identify it on the exploded view of the parts list, and even longer to figure out where it went but patients paid off. The description on the list just says “stopper”. It fits on a very short post and has two stainless steel “wings” that sit against the faces of the ratchet washer on the opposite side from where thumb bar pawl engages it. As best I can tell it’s there to keep the handle from rotating backwards during the cast. The Max doesn’t have one as the design of the ratchet washer is different. I made a few casts in the backyard and it seemed good, but won’t be able to really test it out until spring. One of the downfalls of living in Massachusetts. Anyway thanks again for the suggestions and the videos. They were of tremendous help during this process.

I have a question Keith, say your going out fishing, would you rather catch 1 donkey or a bunch of small fish,
@chickenthighfishing5 күн бұрын
I'm always fishing for the Hawg. But that being said....there's not always a Hawg that wants to visit the deck of my boat. So, in that case...give me a bunch of future Hawgs and I'll be happy. I just love being out there. Put me on a calm lake at sunrise in August and I don't have to catch a thing to be supremely happy. Sometimes just watching the loons and the beavers is just fine. This past season one morning I had two beavers literally playing with me swimming up to and underneath my boat like dolphins or something. Went on for ten minutes. Never saw that before. They usually just pound their tails to try to scare you off.
@billljones9795 күн бұрын
@chickenthighfishing so true, I do a lot of sunrise on the water. I have never launch after midnight in the tracker yet, that will be this August
@chickenthighfishing5 күн бұрын
Best time to fish if you ask me. No one else out there usually. Most of the time I don't even run my main motor. I'll troll nice and quiet to wherever my spot is and get where I want to get well before sunrise. Some of the biggest fish I've caught are when the sky just starts to turn purple. Toss out some top water and hold on.

When you talking to that guy who doesn't know, that's me!!, Also took some knowledge from you, when you said take your time taking it apart and label stuff, i was able to disconnect trolling motor, 3 batteries and all the wires. I mark them individually, I had my motor winterized but that was way too much money, so this will Def help me next off season, I really think it's just being confident in doing stuff like that, Also really like that boat upgrade painting you did, really wish you didn't lose that sim card seems like I could've kept learning in that video, Either or stay warm up here chicken thighs, thx Keith

Nice video. Your last video of the throttle area was a great help. I'm the one that has to replace the lower floor board due to rot. We'll let tell you if you have to do it it's a pain. The floor is put down with screws. Then that floor has 4 one inch hole where they inject the foam. We'll that foam is locked on to the wood bottom. You basically have to pulled it apart in pieces. Not sure If you know but I was told by my local dealer that the floor had a lifetime warranty for the original owner.

The unit worked fine for several weeks after I replace my 2 lead/acid batteries for the trolling motor with 2 lithium batteries. I left the cranking battery as the stock Interstate. The lights on the bank charging the lithium batteries started acting up just as you mentioned in the video. I gave your suggestion a shot and sure as sh*# everything is now working fine. Thank you for the fix! ... I let the OEM connectors on the lead to the cranking battery since it was always working fine and it is harder to get to.... Thanks again.

I am replacing the Garmin Stryker 4 that came with my 2024 Tracker Pro 170 with a Humminbird Helix 7. I'm in the middle of trying to pull the Stryker's transducer cable back from the console toward the rear of the boat. I was able to pull approx 3' of cable rearward, but now it won't budge. I realized that I need to access the main wire chase above the throttle control like you needed to do in your case. As I tried to systematically remove the carpeted panels, there is one screw that actually holds the console down and severely limits the movement of the side panel. That screw is now just spinning and I am not able to pull the side panel away from the gunwale. I found your video and now I know I'm dealing with a nut and bolt!!!
