Dumb it! I forgot to mention... This was no small task you getting to that coupler you pretty much disassemble the whole dang thing. It's usually right in the middle of tasks like that where I'm on my back upside down lifting heavy things since the patience to unscrew something unfairly located that I think I should have called a professional. I guess what I'm saying is having watched you do it I now know what to expect rather than to be surprised by the amount of tediousness that is going to go into this task. That's a huge Time saver so thank you one more time.

Thanks a lot for the video! Model specific searches are kind of hard to find good results for... Additionally it seems like the internet doesn't know how to comprehend my search criteria when I say no agitation, but spins. Eventually however with enough persistence you come across videos like this which are very helpful. So thank you again. PS I thought by far the best part of this video was the kiddo in the background towards the end saying "huh?" But I was mistaken because the best part of the was when Dad responded back with the same, "huh." Made me actually laugh out loud.

My dryer is 220 volt, when on normal it uses 220 heat, when it is on low, or knit, poly, it is on 110 volt from what I can tell and is not as hot, and takes longer to dry, there is no need to change to a 110 volt when it can be divided by use of the switch or buttons, I dry all my clothes on low heat, it takes about 90 minutes, I do this so my heating element will last longer, I use to replace my heating element every few years, since I use low heat my heating element has not been replaced at all for several years now, I got tied of taking the whole machine apart just to replace the element. The other reason was that the normal heat seem to be burning my clothes.

what if u hook up 2 110v cords to the dryer so that u can plug 🔌2 cords into the wall socket will that work as if it's a 220v and will that start a fire 🔥🤔

Not an electrician here and the same thought occurred to me. Obviously an electrician would not recommend this and obviously the appliance is not designed for this but I know that it pulls more power because the gauge is smaller in number such as 6ga vs 12 ga. Very important for safety and most 110 volt are 12-14 ga which would be unsafe for a 220 volt dryer. You would theoretically use a thicker gauge and the fuse would be a higher amperage. I would only try/test this about 100 ft from the house with a circuit breaker that was recommended by a electrician with an electrician. I want to test this but so dangerous. Funny thing is in theory that’s exactly what I was thinking.

@@alfredretana6987 I don't think it pulls less power if the wire is thinner. I think the wire just heats up and causes a fire faster. I believe resistance is higher for thinner wire.

A typical 240 volt 5000 watt dryer heating element would draw 1250 watts at 120 volts. Therefore the heat would be much less as well.

This will only give you the motor to run the drum and timer, it will not power up the heating element at all, in order to use the heating element you need both 120 volt phases. This will not heat at all.

@mariolanz41875 жыл бұрын
Its much easier to hook up a 220v outlet in your garage.. But i know you doing this for the purpose to educate. You got your normal 110v hook to (L1 black) and neutral (white) running motor And then a bypass [jumper] from neutral to the terminal of (L2 for the heater element red wire ) now connected to neautral to finish complete loop of 110v.

Lance Conklin sorry I haven't got back to you been locked out of my account for a while but the easiest way to access your pump would be to take off the front panel and it would be a white thing with two black hoses and Inlet and Outlet connected to it there is no filter to stop anything from going in there or going through it

LMAO how in the HELL will you know if the Thermistors work if you only get half the heat????? Thermistors tend to open and break when there is regular heat... Having limited heat means you have limited results meaning you might end up with WARRANTY calls. No thanks I'm good I'll just offer my clients a new dryer lmao no prob
@fixingstufff6 жыл бұрын
York Vencez thermistor will break if your dryer is overheating. Not related to the heating element only getting half of the power. Cicle will work at the same speed. You will only noticed your clothes not drying fast like they used too.

Do what you like sir... No reason for the negativity? Problem is people with sense will no its a bad idea. And the not so smart people will definitely try this! Most wont even wire correctly is my guess? *Pro tip* There is no correct way to wire this safely for weekly use. I got enough sense, i fear way more dont and somebody will end up hurt here....
@rickosman51005 жыл бұрын
This method will not supply heat, we use to use this method for basically demonstrating the dryer tumbling the clothing. You definitely need both the 120 volt phases connected to supply the heating element. The dryer is broken down into 120/240 volt operation. Unlike the European type that only use 240 volts. 120 volts for the timer, the drive motor and interior light if one is available. The heating element is supplied by 240 volts by connecting both hot phases to the dryer.

I have a question...When using this method to test your dryers, how can you tell if the cycling thermostat is operating correctly? What I mean is if the heating element is receiving only half the voltage it's designed for, will the temperature in the dryer's drum get hot enough to trigger the cycling thermostat? Thanks for uploading this video

What do you mean, "Be sure to get your connections hooked back up."? How about you show us the connections, where they go!!
@iveybrotherswasherdryermai71846 жыл бұрын
Richard Schenkman there is a lot of connections when replacing the motor connections up top by the board and then connections down off of the motor as well and is only me filming and it's hard to show everything but if you just remember the connections you take off you should be okay fairly simple process
@richardschenkman44547 жыл бұрын
This is such a frustrating video. It's NEARLY very helpful, but then it's not. First of all -- hold your phone SIDEWAYS to get a larger image! Secondly, put more light on things so we can really see what's going on, and take a moment to show us/explain the wiring!! You go through things without really explaining them, when you could be helping so much more. Thank you!
