Just based on the movie... carrying such a heavy shield was a death sentence, especially when you know Achilles is known for his speed and agility. This also caused Hector to tire out much faster.... not the mention the mountain of guilt he was already already..

6:50 I always hated how this scene has such amazing choreography, but is kinda ruined by Achilles stabbing Hector through his armour.. Just, why? It doesn't make any sense. All this attention to detail and then something as stupid as that. It's armour.. You're not going to stab through it like that. Why even wear it if it's that weak? He should have just stabbed a couple cm higher into his throat.
