Fake. These photos are heavily edited to look like they're old. Most "Cambodian Art" in the present has been influenced by Thailand. Some are even downright copies of Thailand, like the Sabai which was never part of Cambodian clothing. However, they had Sampots, which were simpler than Thailand's Sabai. Only after Buppesannivas, the Thai soap opera aired, did Khmer people start claiming Thai culture. In the past, before Siam was founded, Thais and Khmers were not separated. We used to have a very similar culture. But now as a free country in the present, Cambodia no longer has any culture mostly due to the Khmer Rouge reign by Pol Pot, and the constant colonization. So Thailand sent traditional Thai dance teachers to teach our ballet. In return, Cambodians claim Thai royal ballet as their own "Art form" and blaze Thailand for copying even though this artform has been long mastered by the Thais. Even the Cambodian government knows that Thai people taught them this art directly. There is no shame in sharing culture, but stealing another country's culture and claiming it as their own should be a crime. Please don't claim Thailand's culture and share misleading information about art history. It's disheartening to see Thai people losing credit over their own history

Nice drama Vessantara Jataka. I have recently read a Novel, called “The Tale of Prince Vessantara,” by Dr Ashin Sumanacara. The novelized version of the Vessantara Jataka moved me to tears.

This creepy look looks very Thai. Thai classical ballet is like something you’d see in a horror film.

Thai people traditionally sing with squeaks in their voices like the sound of a rocking chair. Cambodians have smoother curvier vibratos.

The type of Khmer dance that was inspired by Thais look like the type of dance you see in a horror film. White painted faces, long pointy nails and the way Thai people sing like a ghost mother rocking her baby to sleep. It’s all so ghoulish. I’d take the Angkorian dance or the current Khmer royal ballet over that nightmarish Khmer/Thai ballet of the 1900s.
