My husband and I are in exactly that situation. At age 20 we were happy in his boy scout pup tent. At 65 we need a comfy bed and we get up during the night. A folding potty chair with bags and kitty litter works for us. We're transitioning to full time, so we got a cargo trailer and may want to upgrade to a composting toilet at some point.

My homebuilt trailer has a well that holds a marine toilet. It's a pain to access, but you can use it in place. However, after 7 years and 30,000 miles, I have never used it. I normally stay in BLM or FS campgrounds. Still it is good to have if I ever need it.

Millions of campers covering the forest in💩 Is not sustainable. Many locations have already been shut down. Many locations now require holding tanks(not composting, cassette or anything else)

There is no reason a compost toilet cannot be used in the backcountry. All "solids" leave with the camper. Urine is sterile or close to it, and humans peeing in the countryside is no worse than any other animal doing so. Or should peeing outdoors be banned too?

I have an Airhead compost toilet. What a joy to break the connection to dump stations. I haven't been to one in years. My cargo trailer to RV conversion has no holding tanks except a small 6 gallon gerry can under the kitchen sink. This is used for nights at Walmart. I boondock 100% of the time on BLM land in the desert and my shower and kitchen sink dump straight onto the ground. I actually do my dishes in a plastic tub on the tailgate of my truck, and dump the gallon or two of dishwater in the desert. I have a on demand water heater and a 100 gallon fresh water tank in the bed of the Ram.

Good discussion. Our solution is portable Trelino Evo-L liquid separating toilet. No dumping tanks ever again.

In Palo Duro Canyon the famous formation is the “Lighthouse”. The steak house in Amarillo is “The Big Texan”, not The Big Tex😂. It is not unusual for a thunderstorm to happen during the play, “Texas”.

I'm really intrigued by this incredible RV. Do you have any updates on how you like it, how it is to camp in, and whether you'd purchase it again? We were at the Tampa RV Supershow this year, and stopped to look at the Willow at least 4 times. Amazing RV. Would love to hear your thoughts. Thanks so much!

Hey! PJ and Richard are still using their Oasis! She was out with it last week, and she has plans to take it out again at the end of next week. She doesn't report any issues and still loves it. She wants to get more trips planned with it!

From everything I have seen and heard from rv owners, dealers overall have absolutely flunked in providing service. This includes skilled workers, scheduling, inspection and assuring work is completed properly. Nightmare upon nightmare is shared from owners. This involves both low cost as well high end RVs. Warranty networks are lacking. The idea that an RV under manufacturer's warranty must either travel to the manufacturer or go to the one dealer they made their purchase is absurd. If you are a dealer of a brand, you should be authorized and trained to properly perform warranty work.

Lots of good info, but what about inverters? The reason folks want solar power is to run 110V appliances" A/C especially, but for me a COFFEE POT. Without the inverter, the solar doesn't help much.

The inflatable hot tubs are VERY heavy and not small to pack up. Those are good for long term/perm use sites. They are hard to clean as well. The inflatable tub in the shower I would want to know how much support is available where I would be putting it. The weight of the water would dictate how much I could put into it safely.

Thanks for the video, how did you handle the top venting portion of the battery cover? I know it vents to outside on the side of the trailer. Did you block it off? Thanks
@rvsmalltalk627
@rvsmalltalk627 Жыл бұрын
Hey there! I blocked off the vent with some foam gym-floor padding (the type that fits together like a puzzle) that I had laying around the garage. I cut it to size and that’s about it.

I am getting ready to pick up my vintage truck camper. I'm guessing it's from the late 50s-60s. It is in pristine condition. The box was made by Riviera. I have the serial number but can't find out any info. It has PINK appliances! No head, but a vented tiled closet that will do. It has an ice box, not fridge. It has turquoise vinyl cushions, retro curtains and sconces and blonde cabinets. I have photos! Can anyone help me try and trace down the history? Thanks. I'm getting so excited for our first trip!

I can answer your question as to why people dislike using videos as instruction, esp when they have reached out about a specific issue. It would be analogous to someone pregnant for the first time asking an OB Nurse a question and being handed a textbook. It is too much info, you are unsure what applies and what does not, it may take hours to sort through with no results, and it feels dismissive.

So happy for you. I want one, but I own an Edge with 3500 tow capacity. Trying to figure out if I can pull it safely with a Silverado or a F-150. I retire in 1yr & 4mons. And plan to get this for a retirement gift for myself. Safe travels.

Why truck camper? 1. Ground clearance. 2. Suspension versatility. 3. 4X4 capability. 4. Access to remote areas. 5. Any campsite available versatility/capability. 6. DIY configurability. 7. User replaceable chassis. 8. Autonomous as needed. 9. Ready to roll in short order. 10. Easy to heat, easy to cool. 11. Easy to level, and chock if needed, on a slope, and no need for wheel stop(s). 12. Will learn you real fast about efficiency and what you do not need. 13. Dogs and cats like to hang out in the overhead and look out the windows.

We have had a Motorhome, small trailer and truck campers. On our 3rd camper which we bought new in 2000, A Bigfoot 9.6 2500. It has traveled over 200,000 miles on the back of two trucks. Wife and I have a severe case of Wonder Lust! Travel back roads as much as we can. Our BF is fully set for off grid too. We bought the BF new... We did not want to deal with leaky roofs etc. I am a stickler for maintenance so leaks come from BAD places..hahahaa. So either the N lite or BF was our choice Here is something you guys did not talk about. You can not take off the structure of a Motor home and put it on a new chassis so after about 60,000-100,000 miles a new MH might be needed. An old F250-350 will nearly last forever with care and maintenance. Lastly, you have to love and enjoy your mate and always be patient towards each other. Now in our late 70's we are still going!

Wondering what to do when in a trailer sway, hit the gas, take foot off gas, brake, under correct, over correct steering?
