Here's how we play. Dice rolls determine start order, clockwise from the highest roll. Then, each player rolls a single die. Starting locations based on die roll. 1 & 5, visiting jail 2 & 6 free parking 3 on the go to jail spot, does not go to jail 4, Go Go around the board from your start location before buying property but fines, card slots, and jail spaces are not active until you've gone around once. This changes the starting property available to each player. Utilities are paid when passing Go to the utility holders or the bank. $5 per property owned, $10 if the property is part of a monopoly. You can buy a single house on any property you own. You can buy more once you have a monopoly for that group. If a player lands on an unowned property but doesn't want it, the player pays its rent value to the bank. No auctions Combine chance and community chest cards into community chance. Railroads act as normal but are functional. Players have the option to travel to railroad directly adjacent; they do not pass go and must pay for the fee at both the departing and arriving station. These games last about 1.5 hours because you are constantly losing money.

I love house rules. Throwing one of my own in here with a little backstory in case anyone is in a similar position and finds it interesting: I have multiple copies of deserts, which is useful for scenarios like 'Through the Desert' (found in the Seafarers expansion), but I have so many copies of deserts, due to various expansions, that they exceed what's needed as a prerequisite for playing those sorts of scenarios. So, with my surplus, I came up with a house rule idea: I used white primer to wash out the entirety of those extra deserts, to make 'snow' hexes with no detail other than a giant white monocolor. Snow is meant to be a more forgiving version of the desert which I feel is thematically rather neat. The idea is that since the Robber originates from the desert, the cold isn't a preferable place for them--a snowy hex is still something that is going to be devoid of resources similarly to a desert, since all it offers is... well... snow, lol. But it's cold (which the robber doesn't like!), so... ...the rules are that a snow hex is just like a desert BUT *any resource hexes which are adjacent to a snow hex are treated as being 'cold'*, and these 'cold' hexes have partial immunity from the robber. To elaborate: A player can still place the robber on a 'cold' hex and steal a resource from someone on that hex, as well as block the production from the hex just like the robber always normally does. But the difference is that once the affected hex 'fails' to produce a resource due to the robber being on it, right after this blockage occurs, the robber will immediately move back to the desert without the need of another 7 being rolled or any cards/knights being played. Basically, the robber only gets to block production from a cold hex once, before having to go back to the desert and having to be placed on a cold hex again in order to keep blocking it.

Hey!!! Roy Stephens here (one of the designers of the variant). Thanks so much for trying it out and making this awesome video about it. We have heard the issues about the mall zombies being brutal, which was our goal. This was intended to be a very hard scenario, but we found it was winnable too often by the heroes if the zombies were any slower. However; games are meant to be fun and Flying Frog made a great game with Last Night on Earth. Any way you want to play it that is fun, is all that matters. I hope you keep enjoying it. Thanks again for trying it out and making this video!

I was thinking about taking loans from bank with high amount of interest. How does that sound? Also u have to pay 50 to perform jail break. Instead you can pay 200 to do this. Rules like this might make the game end faster

I got one: _Speeding fines on 3rd double_ With this house rule, the player rolling a 3rd double can have 2 options: [1] Go to Jail and wait next turn, or [2] Pay a speeding fine of 10 times what the player rolled and move like normal. But the player will still have to wait next turn and the speeding fine has to be paid before even moving (that includes passing GO). Example: roll a third double six from B&O to get a 12 and pay a speeding fine, you would pay $120 and then proceed to Park Place. You can still buy or auction that property like normal.

Why do the green and blue judges have the option for 4 ribbons if you only have 3 paintings? Can you win two ribbons for one painting? If so, can you only do that once?
@r2igames
@r2igames 9 ай бұрын
Yes, you can get multiple ribbons with one painting if you meet the condition multiple times. So, technically you could even get more than two ribbons with a single painting (though that would be very difficult!). However, it maxes out at the number of ribbons shown on the Scoring Card (so, you would not take a 5th ribbon, even if you met the condition a 5th time).
@Raraoolala
@Raraoolala 7 ай бұрын
@@r2igames just to follow up on that - you will not score points on ribbons in excess of the maximum ribbon count? let's take the blue ribbon scoring card for example. If you had 6 ribbons you would only score 12 points? Not 17, (4 ribbons = 12) + (2 ribbons = 5); you wouldn't even collect ribbons beyond the maximum on the card? Thanks!
@r2igames
@r2igames 7 ай бұрын
@@Raraoolala Correct. For the blue ribbon scoring card, Proximity, the max number of blue ribbons you can take is 4 and the max number of points you can score is 12.

The globes are one of the main things that attracted me to this game when I backed (and I have all of this company's games) but they have been really disappointing components. The clips were hard enough (and they should have been designed as part of the globe instead of separately) but the two half-spheres did not clip easily. I've been at it more than one hour and I'm still trying to get the fourth one to clip. I wouldn't want to separate them for storage and have to do this again. I gave up on learning to play the game tonight because of the frustrating components. It's a shame because it could really devalue the game despite all the effort put into it. I think inflatable globes would have been a better idea.

Why on earth did the globes need those clips inside? Couldn't they have just made the circular bit that holds the paper map inside the globe a part of the actual mould of the globe halves? These clips are stupidly hard to clip into place.
@r2igames
@r2igames Жыл бұрын
Make sure you are sliding in the clips horizontally, not snapping them in vertically. Here's a reference image to help explain what I mean: boardgamegeek.com/image/7639816/globetrotting The reason the clips are not constructed as part of the globe is that it would create what is called an "undercut," which would make it impossible to eject the plastic piece from the mold. You can learn more about undercuts in injection molding here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/rV6cdKFmjtiAf6s&ab_channel=XcentricMold%26EngineeringInc%2C

The assembly for this game was not a good experience, even with the video, the instructions in box were not precise at all, and I expect taking the globes apart for storage will render the game un-playable after a few times, game play is good but the design of the physical solution is awful

I really don’t understand the thought process of making players fix this much of work just to setup the game. Not to mention these are pieces that look like it will break easily after numerous opening/closing/pinching/twisting/general-wrestling-with-pieces-to-get-them-in-order. Such a waste of a beautiful concept. After fixing these, I really got no more energy to try and learn the game and teach it to my family. Most regrettable backing on kickstarter ever.

Same here - this is the most frustrating thing I've ever had to put together - I'm hurting my fingers and thumbs because the clips do not go in as sweetly as they do in the video and I'm wondering how many times they had to film this, and with how many different globes and clips, before they found clips that would go into globes that sweetly and easily. I'm regretting backing this now. Even putting two completed globe halves together is awkward and you have to do that EVERY TIME you get the game out to play it - this is seriously going to impact my desire to bring this game to the table, even if it's amazingly fun to play.
