Mexico worked their tactical plan perfectly only because the Ref allowed them to do so, especially in the 1st half. Mexico should have had at least 2 red cards, which would have changed the whole complextion of the match. The fact that Mexico clutched, grabbed, tripped etc...was an absolute compliment to Canada. Similarly to how Chile & Peru played against Canada, Mexico felt that they had to pull every kind of dirty trick to slow down Canada's very fast pace.

I think you can go both ways with it. -On the Mexico side, Mexico brought the physicality to break up the flow of the game so could Canada couldn't really be successful. -The refs will show how the game is dictated, and as a player you have you adjust to that. If a ref is gonna swallow their whistle, the players have to play through some physicality and stop looking back to the refs for fouls. -But on the Canada side, there's a reality that most CONCACAF teams will use this style of game to slow down Canada which means the chances you have you must bury. We weren't able to. Not bad not good either. -A draw isn't bad, but they need to learn to win these types of games consistently.

@ontherise- 7 күн бұрын
- Yeah Jesse Marsch has to learn from the match and instill into players now that they have to play through physicality and not continue to draw fouls. Be a bit different if we had a great freekick taker. Especially since it was Marsch first time experiencing a side playing true Concacaf football against him. - Yeah exactly draw isn't bad at all and never will be against Mexico. But agreed the game was there and it's a match Canada needs to start winning if we want to be the 'Kings of Concacaf'.

Also: JRR is absolutely the right call up. His big game goals are consistent, and his final touch is golden. Doesn't play box-to-box as clean as March would love - but, if the team needs to press, you want those one touch titans available (especially if Larin lost his touch)

The Marsch camps (Student of Bradley, Armas style training) he intends to run camps and "coach" at elite level athleticism. Pro's - if there is a camp to experience high performance training - it should be temporary national camps. This would help players know that there is another level out there. Con's - teams might not want to send players into harms way. However, if players consistently shine for Canada - these camps will become notorious for international scouting, and this "system" which was once detrimental for Toronto FC - might pay dividends for CanMNT. But - do keep your eyes open for the injuries. First Tajon, now Theo, let's see if it's a trend... :O

Quite frankly, Sirois looked pretty awful in CF Montreal's 5-0 loss to New England. Yes, this is an exciting team; however, you had previously reported that Santiago Lopez would be on this squad & I got very excited because he is in my opinion, the most talented dual national in the long run & if he played with the senior team, there would be a much better chance that he might choose Canada over Mexico. Unfortunately he is not on this squad. I can only hope that he might play in the October Friendly match versus Panama at BMO field.
@ontherise-
@ontherise- 22 күн бұрын
Yeah Sirois this season hasn’t been up to his usual standard which is very weird to see. Yes that is correct Santiago Lopez was reported to have been called up the squad by a few Mexican journalists. Which is why I was quite shocked to not see him involved in this current squad. I do strongly believe he will be with the side come the Panama match at BMO. I also think it’s a lot more exciting for us Canadians to watch him first hand at him at BMO be an exciting opportunity also not as difficult of a match for a youngster.

He was born & raised & trained in Mexico, although he lived in Canada from 2009 to 2015, when his parents moved for work, before then returning to Mexico. In Canada, he played with Oakville SC. Absolutely buzzing about this as a Canadian Hibee. We’ve been in massive need of attacking reinforcements this offseason so Hoilett should be huge for us with his playmaking ability if he stays fit. He’ll likely see most of his minutes on the wing as either a starter or super sub, with Youan linked away and other wingers in the squad underperforming last season. In terms of set pieces I’d definitely expect him to be a cut above our current takers which is usually Newell or Boyle atm. I’ve waited years to see another 🇨🇦 at Hibs, didn’t expect it to be a player of Hoilett’s calibre
