I just recently got interested in ink drawing. Went from micro pens to nib pens to a bamboo pen. The black of ink is a complement to the white of the paper, so crucial to watercolor. It's not something I'd do exclusively but is a way to refocus, for me, on the shadows, so important for depth and perspective in painting. Chalk and charcoal are also welcome substances as you demonstrated so well. Thanks.

I was taught to never blow soft pastels. Spreads dust into the air, full of pigment and medium, not healthy. Vertical positioning of the work surface, gentle tapping, good ventilation. Cringed with every puff. That being said, I enjoyed your instruction, will paint a cyclamen this aft using this method.
