Don't you think that oxy-fuel welding would be better for this part than MIG/MAG-welding?

First class work on the 356 Porsche, I like the idea of carefully checking the measurements a number of times it promotes confidence in each step and the project turning out well. Thanks for posting this work ,I am learning how the professionals do it.

Your level of detail and the patience you have is quite amazing. You take the time to do it right. Are you overalls weld proof? Who makes them?
@classic356expert22 ай бұрын
Thank you! It is not weld-proof; you have to be good at positioning yourself. 😉

@classic356expert22 ай бұрын

@classic356expert26 ай бұрын
During a personal meeting, I can speak German, but to avoid misunderstandings, we can communicate in writing in English. I also deal with the restoration of Pre A and A.

I watched the making of Porsche, which was filmed years ago when they still made 356's and after watching, you seem to be making the floor area just like the factory, except they had fixures. Quality work!
@classic356expert26 ай бұрын
Thank you! I'm glad you see it that way too. My goal is to demonstrate that restoration can be done to factory quality. I am familiar with the film you mentioned inside and out.

I have never seen a Speedster or any 356 rebuilt to this level. Incredible work and it makes me wonder how many restorations are going around today with torsion bar mounts and rear seat chambers full of rust?

Many restored cars on the roads look very nice. However, it's just superficial.

Did you make the extensions for your spot welder? And if so how did you do it?
@classic356expert26 ай бұрын
Yes, I made it. I purchased copper rods for it, cut them to size, and bent the ends into the appropriate shape.

Any new panel is coated in the cheapest single stage paint to prevent flash rusting, he is right remove it, its only for transporting to the customer. Use quality paint to protect the bare metal!

This is fascinating stuff, and I applaud the skills that are on display here, but I would ask the question, when does an original car cease to be original? There cannot be more than 5% of the original metal being retained. The finished item will be more like a very good kit car.
