The number one tip for the non-percussionist band director is - hire a real percussionist to help you!

"you also have all the accessories that go with it, and the price tag...it certainly mounts a little bit higher because of these things - but they are a necessity." my band director: "no"

I'm not sure i exactly agree with the height of the snare, if you're using matched that works better but with traditional, you don't want the sticks pointing down at the head. The bead doesn't hit the head correctly and the sound quality suffers. Usually in between the belt line and belly button is the best option I've seen from teaching and playing on my own drum.

The snare drum is definitely too low. I was rushing to set all of these instruments up…this was a video a made for my students during COVID, not perfect by any means.

This is like unearthing a ruby the size of a Tangerine. TO ALL THE 2002 MEMBERS, THANK YOU FOR SHOWING ME WHAT MUSIC IS. 1:44, there’s something about the music that just “speaks” to you. I saw this show for the first time in 2009-2010 (mind you I was only in middle school.) This show is something else compared to just about any other DCI show. Till this day I still cannot personally explain it. Thank you for showing me that Music is Life.

I hope there are more of these encore vids. this really is one of the most intricately orchestrated brass books ever. Especially the opener. This is obviously early season. You can tell they were on fire though.

This show is close to my heart as it’s the first DCI show I watched on KZbin back in 2009-2010. Made me fall in Love with music in its own way.

Well done :) Musically I play this piece at a similar tempo. I have only one suggestion; consider the last phrase of the 3rd movement to be like a rubato coda...
