It would make the "Proof" more realistic. The idea of horror during the day lacks the in the moment horror of not being able to perceive the world and the monster very well, but it adds a more lasting horror at the idea that the daytime isn't safe so night is only more dangerous. Unlike the common trope of daytime being safe.

LMFAO! Nawww, dude 🤣👌 It's a joke, and quite the opposite really. I thought it be funny if the host, Gregor the Gravedigger, made a bunch of uncontraversial statements thinking they are contraversial in an effort to become more of a recluse with it all back firing on him. It's all part of the gag. But good looking out, and thanks for watching 😁👍

Look it's like this. Y'know how it's impossible to predict the future, yet every job conducts interviews to determine whether a canidate would be a "good fit moving forward." When in reality the only thing an interview may accurately determine is whether a canidate is good at interviews. Well, it's the same soup different bowl. It doesn't have to be true to make me feel better. Just like you don't have to complete agree with all my content to subscribe to my channel. That's a hint. Wink wink.

Indeed, we do! Although this one may have been a bit of a misstep. See, I've been watching my subscribers favorites lists trying to figure out which of their interests made the algorithm direct them to this channel. Turns out, I think they are keenly interested in seeing vintage/retro Halloween stuff perhaps with historical commentary and preferably with animation or music.

@@thrillland That's interesting, and very smart!! I don't know specifically why YT recommended one of your videos to me, but it may have been because I like watching video compilations of old photos, as well as videos about the very early days of film and photography. I also watch a lot of random videos that are recommended to me because they look interesting, not necessarily because they're about something I'm interested in. Whatever the reason, I'm glad they sent me over here. I love the old films that you upload. It will never not leave me awestruck that I'm watching films that are 100 years old, or more.

What a great way to celebrate 1k subscribers. It's interesting to see how far back your interest in these old films goes. I'm glad that you held onto your drawings. I still have some stories written by my sisters and my kids when they were young, and they are treasured possessions. I'm sure that you feel the same way about your drawings. It would be amazing if you could bring your vision to life some day, either as a live action or animated film.

Thank you so much for your compliments and kind words. It is wonder hearing about your tokens from days gone by as well. Funny, that a lot of times we underestimate how much value there are to such mementos from our creative past but such is life. I think being able to make any follow up to a Melies project would be the fulfillment of a life dream for me. It may happen or it may not, but no harm done if the latter. Either way, I'll have to come up with more original content for this channel. Stay tune and thanks again for watching. Share this channel with others if you can. 🙃✌️✨

The use of colour in this film is fantastic. It's interesting to watch a film that Méliès made almost 10 years after "The Devil's Manor" and see how much more sophisticated his special effects have become. According to a biography that I read, it looks like soon after this film was made, Méliès' most popular style of film (féeries) began to fall out of fashion. Although he tried to make films in newer, more popular genres, it doesn't look like many of his films after 1907 got very good reviews or made much money. That's a shame because he was clearly very talented.
@thrillland4 ай бұрын
Agreed, Melies excelled at crafting marvels and spectacles. He was certainly also gifted with imagination and talented at evoking a sense of awe and wonder. Melies passed in the late thirties. How wonderful it would have been to see him craft a film in his later years using then modern film equipment and the many new resources at his disposal. Sadly, we can only dream. But in spirit of Melies, well, dreaming is not an ending but where the adventure begins 🙃✌️

The effects were a little rough in this one. That was surprising, considering that "The Devil's Manor" was made 2 years earlier, and the effects were so much better. I still enjoyed it, and got a laugh out of it.
@thrillland4 ай бұрын
Yea, I thought to include it for its relative simplicity compared to Melies' other works to showcase a better range of his talents. Plus it was one of the earlier of Melies' works that I first saw coming on a VHS of silent films I watched as a kid 😁✌️ Regardless, it is a delightful piece ✨️
