Eventually the lamp will get dirty and the aluminum will oxidize. Since you sealed with glue it will be very hard to clean or replace the lamp. How do you propose to solve those problems?

I have no clue about voltage or wattage or power at all, apart from grabbing hold of live and neutral is something I’ll only do once That said I’m taking from this I could trickle charge my car’s battery with a reasonably large solar panel. Am I correct?

Nice! I did a similar one, but in order the water not to contact the lamp i did a PVC cristal hose. But I am not sure if UV light reacts with this tubing. Because the water now has excessive plastic taste... any advice? Thanks

I noticed you have no protection from the UV-C light. A short exposure can be tolerated, BUT as the time of exposure increases, you risk getting a very bad sunburn (plus skin cancer) and damaging your eyes. Thick gloves, heavy clothing, and protective eye wear should be used when walking with UV-C.

Very interesting, but you don't know for sure the wavelenght of your chinese UVC-Light or did you check it with a UV-meter? Maybe its only mostly 300nm and not 220nm. These cheap beads are only sensible from 300nm up. So I think you never tested light below 290nm. But anyway thanks for your experiment

Low pressure mercury tubes by nature will have a strong emission line at 254 nanometers. LEDs are another story altogether

Plastic-topped LEDs claiming to be UVC are pretty much a scam I think. There are some LEDs with quartz windows that are a bit pricey but that do emit UVC.

Thanks for video. one point I would like to point out when you turn on light, in order to get maximum output UVC, it need to have complete warm up for the bulb which about 5 minutes otherwise you will get about 70% output of UVC.

Green bananas turn brown if exposed to uvc. Takes a couple of hours after exposure to turn. I put one in a glass jug and the half that was inside the jug stayed green.

I did this on mines and it works only as long as i keep the drill going, the "field" does not stay "flashed" when i let go of the trigger or restart generator again. i don't want to have to do this every time.....

Its not all correct. UVC does go Through SiO2 Glass, but not through as you said Windows glass-- In my opinion it could be the reason why Earth (and edge of Ice) is Warming up-

VERY NICE!!! Did your idea work out or did you need to do differently. Would love to know as i plan to build something similar with the main difference being my UVC sterilizer is already encased and sealed within a glass/quartz tube and i plan on using a uni seal where you used epoxy to seal the bulb in place.

Voltage isn't a particularly good way to measure panel yield, since panel voltage is relative stable above 20% insolation. Watts *would* be a good way to measure yield, but there was no load on the wattmeter so only Voc was being measured.

Probably wouldn't want to use this on your feet since its function is to destroy organic matter. The shorter wavelength UVC lamps also generate ozone which does more of the same thing.

Mark Summers uVC of 254nm wavelength also breaks down low altitude ozone O3 back to oxygen O2, isn’t harmful other than eye injuries if prolonged exposure to uVC. The portion of sun’s uV spectrum ie vacuum-uV of 100 to 200nm can convert O2 into O3 ozone. In that sense, our solar recycle O2 <> O3 back and forth, 24-7 in the upper atmosphere. Something up there affecting V-uV concentration also contributes ozone depletion. Lastly, our sun can contribute uV spectral variance over time ie V-uV : uVC intensity ratio.

I guess its too late to recommend this, but Goal Zero makes a AA battery charger that charges off of a USB port. Just add a cigarette lighter to USB charger to feed USB to the battery charger. If you need AAA batteries the Goal Zero AAAs come with an adapter to make them fit inside their battery charger.
