Thank you guys! My drum set part definitely evolved a TON over the summer. As for the stacks i played, i had a total of 4 stacks. The stack I played during the quad attack was a Hammerax Crash Course. The 2nd stack I played during the single 7-let was a 10in. Oriental China Trash on top of a 10in. A Custom EFX! You can see the full list of gear that I used, along with all of the crazy notes I played in my head cam video 🟥 - kzbin.info/www/bejne/h6rbnJdoeNecf6ssi=TGmuq9nbT5g06bY7

I say it every time one of these Bluecoats videos come out but from a brass focused person I'm always blown away that I can listen to these percussion ensemble runs and know exactly what the brass was playing at the same time. The writing between brass and percussion is seamless and unselfish from both sides and makes for an incredible show.

The whole line sounds great! I was disappointed they didn’t win the Sanford but I do understand why SCV did! The basses and tenors were killing it! The tap 5 Snare figures are absolutely incredible along with the flam vocabulary! Hats 🎩 off to BD percussion 2024! This group motto should be: hand speed accelerando are us!

I was shocked to realize I wasn't subbed to this channel. guess I watched so many lot vids in the last couple years (later in life after aging out in '99 and not paying attention for a long time) the algo' is just naturally drenched with your vids. love them and have been binging! I have a gentle suggestion that only came to mind with seeing this one with 2 guests. there's a lot of wasted screen real-estate with this kind of layout. I bet there's a way in OBS (or whatever you use) to crop the webcam feeds into squares which would add up to us seeing way more of the drumming

Thanks for the sub, and the suggestion! We’re definitely not the most sophisticated channel when it comes to tech. But always trying to make improvements.

One of my all time favorite solos. If you ever watched the movie, ‘Drumline’ there’s a part in the final drum battle that sounds like the groove part of this solo at the snare feature

These are really interesting points, and super valid. To play some of devil's advocate, I wonder: - How much instruction and rehearsal time has adjusted to this reality -- I wonder if the drum feature(s) of today (those two 30 second windows at the front sideline, for example) are now rehearsed proportionally more, maybe given to the players earlier in the season, etc... so that they can achieve to the level of that pressure in the moment consistently, and with that maybe they don't achieve other areas as much as when the field judge was on the field - Impact of book composition and technical display on more exposed moments for the battery vs. less exposed moments... if your hardest beats are more concentrated now, maybe you can achieve them more consistently? There's always been some element of "if we don't nail this section, it's bad" for drum scores or even corps-level music achievement scores (this one clearly still applies today). To your point, it may be more intense than before, but curious how much the pressure knob has been moved.

It's a shame this organization is mired by such out-of-touch execs at the very top, because the actual performers are performing the hell out of their show. I just hate seeing a corps and immediately worrying about player safety instead of what the actual point of the activity is.

Execs meaning the legit top-brass decision makers, not caption heads/arrangers.
