If you already own the games on steam you will still have them in your library. Valve are not taking anything away from you. It just means that people who don't already own the pack won't be able to buy it anymore. This is Valve processing Sega's request, so if this pisses you off then reach out to Sega. Personally I think it's a stupid move by Sega as it will just encourage people to obtain illegal copies instead of buying them for a reasonable price.

What? They dont sell cartridges anymore, so they are all de-listed and only way to get them ist to buy them used.... You can buy a used Steam account with those games in the library - Same thing. Also the reason they are removing them ist probably because they dont work good on newer os and are shitty cheap emulations anyways. They will just release new shitty emulations over the next years and charge 20 bucks for each one.

The alien space ship (the ASS-1, gotta love it when Japanese come up with English acronyms lol) crashed into the earth. The humans did not take it after winning any battles with the Zentrans. In fact, it's not a Zentran ship. It's a Supervision Army ship but it will take many years for Macross 7 to be released and that's the series that explains what the Supervision Army is.

I also enjoyed Shenmue 3, even though it had its problems like not enough character development. The last 3 bosses you fight before you do battle with Lan Di. Wanted to fight them in real time.

I don't know if you watched an edited-down version. The link you shared is very sharp, but there are no subtitles (thanks). If you didn't watch the nearly two-hour version, it could be confusing. For 1984 hand-drawn animation, it looks great. Considering that a few years later, Royal Space Force (1987) and Akira (1988) came out.

Thank you for commenting @TexaxCat99. You have to download the video from internet archive to get the English subtitles. You just need VLC player and then select the subtitles under the "Subtitle" section on top of the menu. I hope this helps you. I definitely want to check out either the original or English version of the show. I think the internet archive has most of the original Japanese show on there.

You're a bit handicaped as basically you should have seen the original Super Dimension Fortress Macross TV series as the movie in continuity is a retelling of the series... You could have also made due with the Macross saga of Robotech but there's differences like the meaning of protoculture in both properties. 80s style movie anime was plain awesome.

@@baked_linguini Currently, the original Japanese version isn't being streamed through the usual streaming platforms. Robotech is on Crunchyroll. It's pretty much close enough to the original story. I'd skip Southern Cross. The 3rd "season" is Mospeda was kind of good. As typical of some Anime movies, they are re-edited condense versions or re-worked version with higher quality animation for movie theaters. So, the TV series and DYRL are like alternate universe versions of the same story. The main plot is the same but much of the character developer of DYRL is cut down. In the TV series, Minmay is 16 when she meets Rick Hunter, and before he joined the Military. While in DYRL, the whole plot as to why they are in space is missing because it was expected that the audience would already KNOW why they are in space rather than on Earth. So the lack of no TV, does hurt the move somewhat. Macross is still VERY popular in Japan and in the USA. They still make model kits and toys from a 1980s movies and TV series and constantly making new TV series every few years.

I watched this on VHS under the title Battle of the Bionoids many years ago. Animation is still among the best I've ever seen. Dolza's character design is so much more superior than the Macross (also known as the first third of Robotech) series. The English dubbing, however, is God awful bad and is really the only strike from me against it.

Celebrity Home Entertainment butchered the Macross movie pretty badly to turn it into Clash of the Bionoids. They aren't responsible for the English-language dub, though; that was produced in Hong Kong. The same thing happened with The Dagger of Kamui (released on VHS as Revenge of the Ninja Warrior) and My Youth in Arcadia (Vengeance of the Space Pirate).

I'm guessing you never watched the Carl Macek mash-up series "Robotech", where he took "Macross", "Southern Cross", and "Genesis Climber Mospedea" and combined them to create one longer story, with rewritten English dialogue to stitch it all together. Personally, I find Minmay irritating as hell, and I think Rick Hunter (as the MC is called in "Robotech") dodged a bullet by not getting in any deeper with her than he did. Childish and high maintenance is not a good combination in a romantic partner.

From the movie perspective though, I didn’t find her really childish and high maintenance. Maybe the tv series (no matter the Japanese or English one) sheds more light on Minmay’s character and portrays her more like you said. For me, I think Misa is a better match for Hikaru too, but I feel that poor Minmay got the short end of the stick. She gets released from the Zentradi and finally reunites with Hikaru to just get dumped by him. I do think Minmay deserved that slap. She was being a bit childish there to your credit. I appreciate you taking time to give me your thoughts. I enjoy having open conversations like this one 😊

Minmay is a 16yo in the Macross TV series and very immature in her actions and thought process. This is where most find her annoying but then again, she's a 16yo. She's more matured overall in DYRL, while still childish at times but way more likeable.
