I was due to land in Wellington a few years back but was fairly certain that wouldnt happen as Id been told half the roof had blown off - i think Id pick Welly any day over Palmerston North on a bad day 😂

Hope you can get all of these historic airframes home Ive noticed that ZK-OJA has been stored a few years ago im not sure how much time it has left but probably not historic enough to consider saving

Flew on one of these when they had the Dallas Fort Worth signage - just in front of the upper deck windows. AKL - LAX via Fiji.

Good job they bought the B737 instead of the BAC 1-11. Had NZ bought the British plane the Brits. would have thrown NZ under the bus at EEC negotiations just the same.

Filmed 30 years ago, and yet with far more quality (for its time and technological means available at that time) than a lot of you tube modern equipement videos and content nowadays. Should be transfered to digital.

I'm 45 so I'm just old enough to remember flying these and the OG 737s every summer going from California to Ohio to visit family. Tons of United fights from Fresno to the old Stapleton in Denver

Absolutely love Wellington Airport! When at Uni in Wellington, my flatmates & I would go to the south end, Cook Straight end, climb over rocks and sit right under flight path and "planespot". Exciting watching them bump, and wobble as they pass over you so low you could shake hands w pilot!

12 years ago, well pre -COVID-19. How time flies. 1968 Q4, afternoon landing from Chatham's in a Bristol Freighter, either RK or LT. Exciting gale force cross wind landing, with the surf crest spume higher than the Bristol. The airport was closed to prop aircraft after we wiggled our way to the SAFE terminal. That big tall tailfin was a great wind catcher. 😮

I prefer the original blue & green stripes, over the new coloured livery of now day's., and prefer also the Boeing 737-200 rather than the A320's fleet. Have been on the 737-200 lots of times, like..... wow! what a step climber🛫👍

G-BYAF Boeing 757-200 leased from Britannia by Freedom Air at 02:34. Freedom was started by Mount Cook Airline in CHC, and the 757 was their startup aircraft before they got their own 737-300's later.

they were nice jets but made a lot of noise leaving Wellington they used to shake the ground. They fitted hush kits to try and cut down the noise these worked quite well.

Flew on the air new Zealand DC 10 twice.when we landed back we actually had stairs and you could see the massive size of them.magere domestic airport was also the international.no passport to Australia it was a domestic flight back then.when I think about it it must of been just replacing the DC 8.

Gorgeous ! I love the Boeing 727. I'm sorry to see it leave the flying world. It's interesting how the Krueger Flaps flapped backwards under the wing, and the leading edge slats slid backwards over and into the top of the wings. Aarre Peltomaa
