Well for me personally and on hearing this just once, it's absolutely class. I think it's a far more emotional and meaningful version that allows the listener a more intimate experience, you can empathize more as you feel the expression of regret, desperation, resignation, surrender and supplication. you can put your yourself better in the singers shoes.. Like a painting or sculpture is intended to elicit emotion in the viewer, this feels more like fine art, you are effected by it. Little funeral drum setting the tone, slower tempo, slightly delayed lyrics, the brass expresses a certain resignation to the loss and guitar a more unpredictable, raw pain, desperation feeling.

Even with a jazz big band accompanying him, Eric still employs a relatively large contingent of non-jazz instruments. Leaving aside the horns and woodwinds, I see electric guitar (Eric), banjo, upright bass, drums, piano, and keyboards (Chris Stainton). Is that everything?
