And if u pause it at the right time u can see that the angle of his barrel is up so the bullet is going to travel just above the eye and go straight through the top of the skull not the lower head and neck at which his foot it placed about the only thing that would happen to John it he would get some blood and bone on his shoe

Skulls are pretty hard it could easily help push the bullet slightly more up. Paired with o the Camera angle could make it look off.
