@outdoorplinking111914 күн бұрын
Yes alot of these swarm 10x models are similar. Still has the gamo scope on it and it works well for me. The bone collector not only has a wood stock but they teamed up with the youtube channel Bone Collector. To make a special edition. And really the only difference is bone collector and their logo is engraved on the stock
@Man_Cave16 күн бұрын
So are you saying the new model with the inferior plastic receiver shoots better?
@outdoorplinking111915 күн бұрын
I don't think the new models with the plastic receivers are terrible. I have no issues mounting different optics on it. Its probably not as durable to the metal ones if dropped of course. I could never get the old metal receiver 880s to seal up for me. Always still leaked or was really weak. So I just wanted a new one I didn't have to reseal. Does it shoot better? I'd have to compare a good working 880 that's older to this one

I think pellet makers are doing the same thing fishing lures makers have been doing for 50 years. Designing lures to catch the eye of the fisherman more than the fish. What I am saying is that I don't think pellet shape matters much at all. What matters is accuracy in your rifle. Domed pellets have proven to be most consistently accurate. The next thing that matters is penetration. Most airguns don't have enough velocity to get any meaningful expansion out of most pellets. So penetration is what does the killing. You would think that a pointed pellet or a heavier pellet would penetrate deeper but that's not always so. I like to test pellets by shooting them into old college textbooks and counting the pages of penetration and comparing pellets by shooting them side by side into the same book. Thanks for the video
@outdoorplinking111919 күн бұрын
Yes i agree, domed pellets definitely prove more accurate in all my air guns and flat nose usually do well too. Some domed pellets are better than others. It was my first real .22 cal airgun , so I didnt have any domed to test then. A good place I like to read about air gun pellets is Hard Air Magazine. They have lots of reviews in different pellets give you the scientific data on the specs of them. Finding the right pellet for your rifle that is the most accurate is definitely the most effective at hunting regardless of design and weight

Okay, this is making me crazy. I picked up the Gamo swarm 10x Gen 3i fusion about a week ago. I live in a tiny studio apartment in the big city, so my first 20 or so shots were dead center and low by about 3 inches on paper at a range of 10 feet. That’s about right, since the scope is about that high over the barrel. I didn’t mess with the adjustments since nobody zeros a scope at 10 feet. The 10 round magazine was working flawlessly, that’s all I wanted to know. I brought the gun to work today on the barge docks where I have unlimited range, and only the ocean down range. This is only my second air rifle but I’ve zeroed a lots of rifle scopes on various firearms. You can’t aimlessly plink at cans on the first shots since you can’t tell which way you’re missing. So you need to start on paper. I set up a shoot and see 8” target at around 60 feet, and a stack of pallets 5 pallets as my bench. First shot was low by about 5 inches, missing the target but stuck in the plywood just under the target. So I took a second shot to verify the miss wasn’t me. It wasn’t. Both shots next to each other and low. So up a bunch of clicks of elevation on the scope and still low of the bull but this time 3 inches low. Up a bunch more clicks. Bullseye, little left. Verified it wasn’t me with the next shot. Nope, I’m slight left. A couple clicks right and dead center. Verified that wasn’t just luck, and nope, 3 more shots in a half inch group. The scope is on now. Only then, did I start shooting cans. Hit every every can on every shot without hardly aiming. So I’m not sure that your Crosman is that out of whack, but I’m pretty sure your zeroing technique is. Gotta find the shots on paper first. Zero the scope and unless that rifle is just garbage, you shouldn’t be missing a can 10 shots in a row. I was so frustrated for you bro.
@outdoorplinking1119Ай бұрын
Thank you for sharing! Yes I shouldn't have missed that can so much. The rifle was very new when I made this video. It threw pellets everywhere. I cleaned the barrel and probably will again. But I have been breaking it in by shooting cheap pellets. I probably have 100+ ran through it and plan on shooting 50+ more pellets. I have been using H&N barracuda 18s and it seems to like those and group decent but still throws the occasional pellets. I think it just needs more break in time and recleaned and then re-seasoned with the H&N pellets 20 or so shots anc I'm hoping the accuracy at 25yrds will be acceptable then. I will post an update video on this airgun of course once I figure it out!
@joedokes8641Ай бұрын
@@outdoorplinking1119 I never use the bundled scopes . Almost sold a rifle because it couldn't hit the broad side of a barn , ended up being the scope . All my break barrels have UTG scopes , good luck with them so far . If you have the budget then Hawke scopes are the bomb . Most airguns take at 500 to 1000 rounds to break in .
@outdoorplinking1119Ай бұрын
@joedokes8641 the scope i had on wasn't a bundled scope, it was a cheap china knock off. I have put a different scope on and put almost 200 pellets through it and it seems to have settled in, but the stock screws keep coming loose and I even used blue locktite
@johnndavis7647Ай бұрын
Yep, put about 200 pellets through it. Then clean the bore. Then put 20 pellets through it to re-season the bore then see what it will do. Like all guns it will show a preference for a certain pellet weight our brand. Have to wait and see. In my plastic stock guns, I take the butt-plate off and I stuff a gel filled rubber squeeze toy in the hollow space. That gel absorbs a lot of vibration and it adds about 8 oz to the back end of the gun. That makes it quieter and it protects the scope too.
@outdoorplinking1119Ай бұрын
Thank you for information! Yes I have been shooting it since the video to break it in, I'm not at 200 pellets through it yet. And I'll look into taking the butt plate off. Could I use lead shot instead?

I'm pretty discusted with scope technology and break barrels. Used to be you would buy a scoope for 200 bucks and it was good forever. Now you buy a 800 dollar scope, and these new break barrels destroy them in 150 or 200 rounds. By then you have to sight it in every 10 rounds or so because they don't hold zero.
@jasonnealey8325Ай бұрын
Try the Hammers scope it is rated for magnum break barrels . Ive used mine on a Beeman breakbarrel for 5 years and it still works .
@outdoorplinking1119Ай бұрын
Scopes can be hit or miss in the quality, sometimes cheap scopes work and sometime they don't,
@johnnash9072Ай бұрын
Don't use an airgun rated scope. I have an unbranded Bushnell that came on my .308, that I use on my Crosman Nitro piston break barrel and it holds zero just fine, even after my son dropped it twice on the patio. Some scopes are rated for airgun recoil, some for up to .22 LR, others for shotguns etc etc but just as important as the optic you choose you also need good optics mounts that is rated for that type of recoil of higher. Remember sighting in a new scope is more time at the range and that's never a bad thing.
@MilledSteelАй бұрын
Nice, I absolutely love that gun. The peep rear sight is fine by me, only problem is that lately examples I’ve seen the adjustment slot for the elevation screw is too long so when it’s raised you see two holes instead of one peep hole. Can be easily fixed with a piece of masking tape but that shouldn’t be required from the factory.
