I didn't realize until tonight that John's and Les Claypool's straight up style of playing bass are really similar... But then Claypool always goes nuts!! 🤪

Until it's isolates it's hard to tell exactly how much John's playing filled the song. Bass lead and rhythm. The man was a fkn genius!

He does all that with a face that looks like he's browsing the Sunday papers. There are no adjectives to describe exactly how good John Entwistle was.

Without even breaking a sweat, he lays down one of THE MOST AMAZING BASS LINES EVER. Just another day at the office...but then, that's what the true greats do, they perform mind-blowing work while making it look easy-peasy. We miss ya, Thunderfingers.

The rare instance of the bassist being the lead guitar, with his almost flamenco style. Pete was rhythm, John the lead guitar.

This is why The Who had such a full sound with only one guitarist that often didn't play himself. Entwistle carries so much of the tracks

The Godfathers of Punk. Mike Gordon of Phish once said that what he loved about the who live is how they’re all just “going for it”. No rock and roll band (not even Zeppelin) could come close to that kind of energy live. They really did define what a live rock and roll show was all about.

This guy kills this song . Awesome, you get into the song and not just play it . I remember as a teen ager in the early 1980s hearing this and tripping out after smoking a few wacky tobacco sticks . One of the best songs by "YES" .
