It's a shame this has been discontinued. As much as the GP-609 is still impressive and looks mostly better, I don't understand why they got rid of the ability to slide and rest the board over just the function buttons/glowing screen and cover them (which you could do on this V-Piano Grand). Aesthetically, it's something I find quite unappealing and distracting from a performance I'm watching. As a pianist I don't think I'd take it on stage :/

There are wonderful rebuilt pianos from over 60 years ago always coming up: Steinways, Knabe's, Bechstein's and more from that era, and when rebuilt they are remarkable musical instruments. But you'll never see a rebuilt pre-1955 Kawai, Yamaha, Young Chang, because new instruments are always there ready to replace the worn-out one.

Which one sounds better Yamaha clp 645 or the hp605
@gistpianocenter6 жыл бұрын
The HP-605 uses modeling technology with unlimited polyphony and natural harmonic overtones. This provides a far greater depth of expression than the CLP-645 can do with it's sampled tone and 256-note polyphony. Also, the CLP-645 has a 2-speaker stereo sound system and the HP-605 has a 6-speaker "Acoustic Projection" 3D surround system. If properly customized to your tonal taste, the Roland will sound quite a bit better and more "piano-like" than the Yamaha.

Gravi or clavi cembalo? Heavy or with keys? The naked cembalo would be played with handheld "hammers" like today's xylo- or vibra-phone. Playing soft or loud on a plucked keyboard instrument like a harpsichord is difficult. Col piano e forte - with soft and loud. ...avicembalo col piano e forte.

What is the slight advantage, technically speaking, of the HP-605 over the cheaper HP-603? Thanks
@gistpianocenter7 жыл бұрын
Hi, Danny! Thanks for your question. Forgive me if I seem pedantic here, but I am just trying to be clear. The HP-603 is discontinued and gone. I'll give you the differences between the new HP-603A and the HP-605. The 603A only has a two-speaker stereo speaker system. The 605 has a 6-speaker surround system (called "Acoustic Projection"). It sounds quite a bit better through its onboard speakers. It also has a slightly larger cabinet to house the speakers and metal clips to hold your music open. They both have Bluetooth AUDIO/MIDI/PAGE Turn. I hope that helps!
@PianoDanny7 жыл бұрын
Yes I guess it must be the HP-603A. Thats very clear - thanks for your help. Definitely worth going for the 605.

Hi, pikasfed, and thanks for your question! The recording feature in Piano Partner 2 is designed for playback within the app. I am not aware of any way you can export those MIDI files from your tablet. Hi. I am new to piano and recently bought the Roland FP 30. What I noticed is that when you press a key lightly it has certain tone and gets louder as you press harder. But when you slam the key down with great force, then it gives off a very distinct string noise at a very high pitch. Very much like "jerking" or "yanking" a metal string at a great force (like a high pitch echo). Is this one of the Supernatural Engine features (is this what they call string resonance?) and does this mimic what a real grand piano would do if you slammed the keys down?
@gistpianocenter7 жыл бұрын
Hello, Shinji! Thank you for your question. Yes, the modeling features built into SuperNATURAL include dynamic string resonance. When you play a note softly, you'll notice the piano gives off a different tone than when you play a note with great force. It's not just a volume thing (like other pianos), the actual sound changes. This is to mimic the behavior of an acoustic piano. It's another way SuperNATURAL makes your digital piano perform more like an acoustic instrument.
@2041545297 жыл бұрын
Gist Piano Center Really great to know. Thanks for answering the question. At least I have better insight into the technology. Glad I went with a Roland.

I have sold both and we have FAR fewer service concerns and a much more authentic piano sound/touch with Roland pianos. I also find Roland to be far easier to use - especially if you want to incorporate apps into your playing experience. I would definitely recommend Roland!

Roland HP - 603 or Yamaha clavinova clp - 535? I am looking for the best acoustic sound and I have a hard time choosing between these two :/
@gistpianocenter7 жыл бұрын
The Roland HP-603 has a much higher resolution piano sound. It's capable of over 16,000 dynamic levels where the CLP-535 is only capable of 128. I think you'll find the Roland has a much more realistic piano sound - especially once you customize it for your space. Good luck!
@gistpianocenter6 жыл бұрын
There are a ton of differences, but here are a few big ones: Kawai still uses sampling technology so their piano sound is much less expressive than Roland's modeling technology. The CA-48 uses solid wood keys which can warp, swell and stick - Roland uses a wood/resin hybrid action that gives you a better feel than the CA-48 WITHOUT the maintenance concerns. The Roland has over 300 voices. The CA-48 has 19. The Roland tone is far more customizable - including custom note voicing, volume and tuning. The Roland has over 400 songs built-in; the Kawai has 59. The Roland can record in audio format - the Kawai cannot. The Kawai only offers Bluetooth MIDI - the Roland offers Bluetooth MIDI, Page Turn AND Audio. The Roland has a 10-year warranty. The Kawai has a 5-year. As you can see, the Roland is a MUCH better instrument.
@gistpianocenter6 жыл бұрын
From the HP-603A to the LX-17, all of the models are using the same sound chip and action. Thus, the one that is going to sound most like a piano is the LX-17 because it has the best speaker system (8-channel "Acoustic Projection" surround-sound system). The HP-603A has only a 2-speaker stereo system. The 605 has 6 small speakers in the head unit. ...and the LX-7 has six large speakers spread throughout the entire piano's cabinet. ...so it's the LX-17 that has the best onboard speaker system. I hope that helps!
@gistpianocenter6 жыл бұрын
The GP-300 still uses sampling (Roland uses Modeling - which is MUCH more expressive). The Rolands have Bluetooth MIDI, Audio and Page Turn - The GP-300 does not. Roland has more onboard songs (around 400 vs 60), more onboard sounds (300+ vs 26), and greater polyphony (unlimited vs. 256 note). The Roland also has a better sound system (more speakers with "Acoustic Projection" 3D surround feature vs. fewer speakers with no surround feature)... so the Roland will clearly sound and play better than the GP-300.
@gistpianocenter6 жыл бұрын
The HP-605 is a killer piano for the price. Obviously, the LX-17 would be "the best" due to its larger speaker system and wider 3d sound field... but the HP-605 is an excellent home piano for people who desire authenticity. Enjoy!

Sometimes I really wish Cristofori had gotten touch with the French harpsichords. He was a tinkerer, and would have loved all the gadgets found on French harpsichords. Imagine all the different stops and keyboards we could have had on the piano. Then again, someone could just invent one now......
@gistpianocenter7 жыл бұрын
Unfortunately, the World was a lot bigger back then. Cristofori was Italian and he never really got out of Italy. Especially after he invented the piano, his king and patron didn't want anybody to be able to copy the new instrument... so he wouldn't let the piano (or Cristofori) out of his sight. It wasn't until German minstrels visited the kingdom and brought detailed drawings of the piano with them that other folks started working on pianos of their own. It's so funny how these things work. Thanks for watching!

If I understood fine 3:12 , with Android one can use only USB cable, and Bluetooth only with iOS?
@gistpianocenter7 жыл бұрын
If you live in a country where Bluetooth is available, it will work with iOS AND Android. I have an Android tablet and it works perfectly. Remember, you need internet access (WIFI) for the first time you connect to the piano. Also, some Android tablets have a strange Bluetooth processor and may require a USB cable. If your rhythms, dairy and recorder don't play back smoothly, then you'll want to switch to USB. Otherwise, everything will work perfectly (assuming you have the right software and everything is up to date). Have fun!

Do you still have to buy the music on the app for each level when you have already purchased the books?
@gistpianocenter7 жыл бұрын
The music is only $4.99 per level (for the lessons series) right now. It's inexpensive... but yes. You have to purchase the music in the app if you want to use it with the app. If you own the books, you still need the play-a-long files. You can purchase those separately, but they are more expensive than the in-app purchases... so it just makes sense to purchase the music in-app. Have fun!

I'm a beginner and I'm looking to learn piano for free. I found that Hoffmann was preety good but not amazing. Is this free? Is it great for someone who has never been taught piano before?
@gistpianocenter7 жыл бұрын
Hiya and thanks for your message. There are a ton of apps out there that teach piano, but we always recommend getting in touch with an actual piano teacher. You simply can't learn proper technique from an app. You'll have more fun; you'll learn faster and you'll learn a whole lot more with a real teacher! That said, Hoffmann uses Piano Maestro and - though that is a popular app - it's a B in our book because it doesn't offer a direct MIDI connection. It just uses a microphone to "listen" to your piano... and that doesn't work reliably if your piano is out of tune or if you want to play more advanced music. We'd recommend Faber's Piano Adventures Player or Piano Marvel instead. Good luck!

Hello, Yuri, and thanks for a great question! Yes! That is the benefit of modeling vs. sampling sound technology. A modeled piano does a MUCH better job with dynamics (over 16,000 levels per key instead of 128 with sampling). Everything is adjustable. I think you'll be impressed!
