On GM cars they went to HEI to get rid of points floating because of shaft bushing wear . this looks like a good product .

These engines have stock components so should be the same as the original engines. You will get a little more HP out of the 1776 and 1914cc but it will still be determined by the carburetors and exhaust you run.

Yes! No black grease to make it impossible to see what's happening, or to make me wish I had not started the job. Why do so many DIY people not bother to get rid of all grease before attempting to explain cv's ? Some of these people look like they work in a coal mine - even before the start the job. Show pride in work!

Im working on a project of turning an atv 4 wheeler into a side by side... I wanting to mount one of these infront of the driver side and only use one side of the rack tie rod and attach it to my old steering shaft where the handlebars use to be. Or is that to much pressure on one tie rod to push and pull the old steering shaft? If i were to mount this correctly, down low and in the center of my project using both ends hooked to my wheels. What stops the wheels from cutting to sharp? My original steering shaft has stops on it, thats the only reason i was going to cheat and hook one end of it up high and to to my handlebar shaft.. Any info will be greatly appreciated

I'm building a buggy. The shifter is way forward to the drivers seat. It needs to come way back. Can I use this box and CUT that factory rod that goes to trans? Or do I need a new Rod?

Could you connect the spline side of the joint directly to the rack and pinion or do you need another part like a coupling for that?

Aluminum??? Shouldn't tie rod sleeves be steel??? Aluminum sounds a little weak to me. I'd be afraid they would bend going over a curb, etc.

These are made for off-road ues and design to bend if you hit a rock or have a crash, to save the rack and pinion or steering box, however they are evry strong and it's the only tie rod we ues in our off-road race cars.

@@dansperformanceparts Aluminum comes in many strengths. A 5056 T6 has a yield strength of about 35,000psi to 50,000psi which is about the same as SAE 1010 steel. Tie rods are not usually high strength steels. I don't work for Dan's. I'm a really old, pre communist, metric system, stress analyst from Fordza down by the Rouge (raw material in, finished products out and enough air pollution to choke a horse) in Dearborn, MI.

The shifter box is made to be welded to 1-1/2" tubing. Then the rest of the installation is the same as a stock VW.

Great video.....I use a paint ball marker and mark a line across the axle so I get CV clocked on same spline.....the mark also serves the purpose of telling me if I've twisted an axle with a simple visual inspection.
