When we aren't tournament fishing it's fun to just go out and bag some easy limits! Especially in a crowd of 30 other boats that can't. If you want to learn how to target those 27-30's on inland lakes we can easily teach you how to do that as well! Thanks for the view and the comment!

Nice video! Jealous of the Live Scope. Did you guys have single trebles on the tip-ups? Shiners and Suckers?
@alwaysonoutdoors Жыл бұрын
Hey thanks! I think in this video we had a mixture of both treble and octopus hooks but mainly we try to run #6 trebles and yea shiners and suckers. Some days it can go either way so we like to start with a variety if we can. Some days if we’re marking and not getting flags we’ll even clip the tails off.

Are you guys only catching walleye in certain bays? Or are you catching them anywhere?
@alwaysonoutdoors2 жыл бұрын
We target certain bays, based on our favorite patterns and similar structure. But that’s not to say they aren’t anywhere else. You could spend a lifetime breaking down all the bays, and we have kinda just scratched the surface so far, learning more as we explore.

I am looking to get out on Minnetonka and catch a couple Walleyes this year on the ice, its been several years since i have bin out on the lake can you tell me some good places to access the lake and maybe what bay is good to catch some walleye?

Ice Fishing Walleyes on Lake Minnetonka kzbin.info/www/bejne/nWbMapWhmqqcfck At the end of this video we give some good pointers of where we fish and what we look for in a spot. We have a few bays we like to target specifically just based on patterns we put together but that’s not to say you can catch them anywhere else. The link below has good information on accessing the lake in the winter. Not all bays have public launches, but most that don’t have “Winter Accesses” you can get out through. lmcd.org/wp-content/uploads/2021/04/Winter-Rules-2021-REV-20201207.pdf

Not sure what year the above video was filmed bit it wasn't 2022. Driving on the lake can be treacherous. Back in the old days when I lived on Lake Minnetonka [ Harrisons bay ] I would go out on the lake and fish in 60feet of water with shiners for big walleyes over 5lb. The problem was always ice depth and finicky fish. My neighbor would go out on the lake and come back with a limit of hog walleyes0 every time he went fishing. In the spring and fall I would catch large pike and had some spool my reel and snap 20# test line. There are some big fish in that lake including bass and crappies. I have caught many bass over 5#. Of course now I live in Florida and have caught bass over 10 pounds. Anymore I have stopped fresh water fishing for salt water and love it. Coming up to Minnesota the end of January 2023 to fish the lake for old times sake but will not have the luxury of fishing where I want.

This was filmed in February 2022, so the end of last season. Big walleye is what got us hooked on fishing Minnetonka! Over the last couple years we have caught a number of really big girls out there! Hope you are fortunate enough to catch a couple of them when you come back, and maybe we’ll see you out there! Thanks for watching!

Nice video. Any idea if there are any ramps that still have a dock in? Would love to get out there prior to ice up weather permitting, but have a fiberglass boat and ideally don't want to pull it up on shore.
@alwaysonoutdoors2 жыл бұрын
I know MyrMar, Cove, Vineland, and Liberty are all pulled. I haven’t been by McQuade’s or Garrison recently, but I’m guessing they’re pulled. Might be best to try a resort with a marina; Barnacles, Red Door, Eddy’s, Terrys, Eastside, Fisher’s. Even if they have their ramp docks pulled, their marina docks are permanent so you can tie up to those. Good luck, thanks for watching!

So, the possession limit is only 1, unless; -you own a casino -you can fish with 'ancestral' monofilament to catch tons of walleye and incidental bi-catch -you can fish from your 'ancestral' aluminum or fiberglass boat equipped with a fuel injected outboard -all the while using artificial light seems fair.

Thanks for watching! We stuck to Jig and Minnow basically all weekend. The Acme 1/8oz Pendu Jig in a gold or silver worked really well, we like the Northland 1/8oz Stand-up jigs also in a firetiger or parrot color with the juiciest fatheads you can find. Wind blown points or sand flats in 8-12fow. They were pretty schooled up in large pods when we left them, but if you’re having trouble on Leech, the North shore of Winni was like shooting them in a barrel. Good luck!

We're the land of 10,000 lakes but honestly other than sunfish and the occasional carp I believe our lakes, at least ones close to major cities (minnetonka is about 15 minutes from Minneapolis) are overfished.
@alwaysonoutdoors2 жыл бұрын
We do believe that conservation is an important part of maintaining the fisheries in our Land of Lakes. We support the DNRs limits (current and new) on lakes that are in need of it. We practice catch and release 99% of the time, only taking what we are going to immediately consume when we do harvest and keeping the appropriate fish while doing so. The only way to preserve our fisheries for future generations is to take the responsibility upon ourselves, as anglers, to practice ethical harvest and fishing techniques while educating others on this topic as well.

@@alwaysonoutdoors I believe you, But for me I'm a little bummed about the new panfish regulations, but I'd like to see more slabs so I guess I'm cool with it. It used to be 30 sunfish! My dad was born during ww2 so he knows a thing or two about rationing, oh and he still is! But he tells me stories of farm boys coming to minnetonka and filling buckets. They were hungry! There's plenty of sunfish, just not many bulls. And for me If I get a walleye they're usually big, every once in awhile I'll get a nice eater. It's a struggle but I don't have all those fancy electronics, I do think that's part of the overfishing problem. Maybe not. Have fun guys!

Also important to keep that outside board rod high as possible so the line doesn't grab one of the other flags and make a mess. Again, one of those things that works far better when it's calm. In heavy wind let the other 2 boards out and put the last board on the inside...
@alwaysonoutdoors2 жыл бұрын
Absolutely, that’s typically what we do. Outside board is always the highest. When we got hung up on that board, we were making a turn and that line just happened to be the middle board of the inside turn. Just unfortunate timing, but it happens with multiple lines!

Does creating the loop help it pop?
@alwaysonoutdoors2 жыл бұрын
Yea! So what it does is when you snap the rod quick with the board, the tension is behind the clip and it pulls the loop out of the OR clip. Then as you see the board comes in with only the back clip on. It brings it to the middle of the spread then and also takes that tension from the board off it making it easier to reel in.
