I feel like this is a side of Mulligan that wasn't there when I was younger.

Great as Brown's solo on Joy Spring is, my favorite version is by Gil Evans.

I had this first song on another piece of vinyl. Thanks for playing it. Unfortunately, I lost everything in the Eaton Fire in Altadena. So, it's nice to see a video of the record playing on a turntable.

I have this on a somewhat scratchy 10-inch lp. It is one of my favorite jazz albums of all time!

‘If I had to choose one single musician for his artistic integrity, for the incomparable originality of his creation and the grandeur of his work, it would be Bud Powell. He was in a class by himself’ - Bill Evans

Thank you for this 'long-lasting' Stardust on Shellac. You had to have time to appreciate it, but at least we listened to it differently than we do today. Records were expensive in those days, an event for each new purchase and listened to and known several times over. We lose a bit of that today by stocking up and no longer knowing all our vast 'collection'. An observation. Hamp is fantastic as always, as is Slam, and the unjustly forgotten Corky Corcoran is on top form.
