Hi, where did you put in on the Nepisiguit river?

@@RiverRobNBOk i see. Is there any rapids between there and Pabineau that you had to do Portage? Im looking to do it this summer. By the way, great videos!
@RiverRobNB5 ай бұрын
@@KayakNB - none, if you put in below Indian Falls (point O on the trail or the 44) and take out at Heathe Steel, its a complete beginner run.
@RiverRobNB5 ай бұрын
Although I re-read your comment. Below Heathe Steel, before Pabineau, you encounter a few serious rapids (CII-III) and a must portage at the hydro dam. See this - whitewaternb.ca/chaleur/nepisiguit/

I am interested in doing this river. You say start below the gorge. I know where that is on a map, but where exactly is the put-in? and what is the access like?
@RiverRobNB7 ай бұрын
Do you know Ramsay Br. Road (near Simpson Fields)?
@francoiscote40107 ай бұрын
@@RiverRobNB no, I don't know that road. I can see where the flying eddy are and Simpson field but not sure about the road. Any chance you could send some google maps pins?
@RiverRobNB7 ай бұрын
maps.app.goo.gl/odxAknbDkjgNwqQa7 See if that works. Otherwise, turn left on Ramsay Br Rd just before Simpsons Field, the river will be on your right (but you won't see it), follow that about 1km and then you'll see a road on your right, looks like old logging road, follow that right to the river , the last few kms are steep, very narrow, the gorge is a long drop down on your right. I would not go down without a rugged 4x4/Jeep etc. And even at that, you might have issues climbing the rock back up at the bottom. If you go too far there is no way to turn around either. You'll see a small cut out on the left after the descent where you can do a 5-7 point turn. I'd stop there and walk the 300m down to the river before driving it. Then your call. It's not an easy place to get in/out. We generally stop at the last place to turn and haul all our gear down the path.

One of the most beautiful rivers I've been on. Easy in terms of rapids, but need to be alert of sweepers/strainers on high water, especially the higher stretches from 25M down and always at 6M and 4M.

Hey Rob, from NW NB here! I really enjoy your vidz of the Restigouche region, helps me rank my next rivers to paddle. Haha! I’ve only done a portion of the Kedgwick and Restigouche a while back. Looking at my options for 2023. Between all the tributaries, what’s the one you like most? Best scenery? Best flow? Least amount of humans haha?
@RiverRobNB Жыл бұрын
Thanks Andre. I make them for ease of sharing with people who want pics and vids post trips, but if I can help some other paddlers happy to do so! Loaded questions there...depends on time of year, water levels, etc. I have this special connection with the NW Upsalquitch starting up at 25/26M, can't explain it, but I've heard others say the same. Overall, get it all...still the Restigouche, just avoid weekends and you'll be ok most times. Best flow, rapids...the Patapedia when water is med-high. And if the water level is OK, the Kedgwick might be the best all around river. If you factor in scenery, remoteness and water clarity...The Upsalquitch. The downside is a lack of flow and rapids. Oh crap, forgot the Gounamitz, amazing river for flow on high water, if you can handle the 1st and 3rd falls and don't mind portaging the 2nd one unless you have helmets and elbow pads :). If you ever want specific details for put ins, take outs etc...email me at [email protected]
