What engine does your car have? My grandads Elise s2 has a rover k series engine and his exige s2 has a 2zz Toyota supercharged engine.

Broken suspension track toe link caused the crash. Not the driver's fault. Looks like it.

You can clearly see him induce oversteer by exiting the corner with hard throttle and then over-correcting onto the grass and causing a spin

I crashed mine too in much a similar way. The back end slid out on me and I hit a dirt embankment and damaged the front end. 25k USD later I had my car back. I learned a valuable lesson that day.

"If you'r a professional racing driver and watching right now, i dont care what you think" is ironic because i think a professional would think a few things that could have prevented anything from happening. Anyway huge props for putting out this video and not just tossing it in the bin as most people probably would have done. And i can tell you, if i would have been talking like that and driving, i would have also lost control xD

Hi Jimmy, i sold the lotus in the spring of 2018 and decided to follow my life long ambition of getting into acting. I've been at it for four years now and it's going well! I don't see any chance as of yet to return and continue with carvlogging but i've been feeling the bug to get a motorcycle. If i do, i will most likely try my hand at making a video or two again. I hope you ejoyed the content that i've put out! If you're interested in following my acting journey, you can visit my portfolio website www.geoffreyalkemade.com

Without deep diving into the comments, first impression is that it looked like you didn't lift after the understeer? I've over time have subconsciously learned to lift in tricky situations... I've done my fair share of mishaps too so it is what it is. Live and learn!

Here’s what I believe happened: back end lost grip due to giving too much gas (maybe) then it sounds like you hit the gas once you went in the grass (I’m not sure and I don’t blame you for the crash as it was a loss of traction that caused it) don’t beat yourself up over it it happens to the best of us but dont let this ruin track days for you keep in mind that you were having so much fun before this and now you’ve crashed and you can and will learn from it

Pace comes from experience and understanding. So many people think it comes from driving on road quickly and that is 10% of learning needed to go quick, safely, on track. BUT, we all have to learn and sometimes that comes this way. Credit for being open about it. You aren't keeping with faster cars, you are keeping with slower drivers too, never forget that.

I’d be willing to bet a broken toe link caused your crash. It’s a known failure on these cars, never recalled by Lotus. Many stories on LotusTalk.com of people almost dying when the toe link breaks. There is a video on KZbin of someone losing control just like you due to a broken toe link. I wouldn’t be surprised if people have been seriously injured by this and Lotus is not being held accountable.

Came here to find this comment. If not completely upgraded, then I'd strongly recommend a torque check on the toe links at least, before going on track.

I bet it was a toe link that caused your crash to begin with. There are videos of this happening to others on KZbin. Also many stories of people almost dying on LotusTalk.com. Lotus should have recalled these but never did. If this was a major car brand it would be a major story. I’d suggest someone considering one of these cars to proceed with caution.

Serious kudos for posting this. Years ago, near the end of a track session at knockhill, I was getting faster and braver, the SNAP oversteer on the fastest corner, luckily landed in the gravel, but it was a dent on the pride.

@@richardsdmathese rebadged versions I find strangely interesting. In the UK they were released as the Viva and they were right hand drive for that market. Vietnam had the Vinfast Fadil but those are gone also sadly....
