What a band - saw them twice on the 2024 World Tour - absolutely AWESOME LIVE band! Hope they never stop!

As good a music documentary as any,giving you the complete simple minds picture from the very beginning. I was riveted to the screen.How far they have come from the humblest of beginnings .Was so nice to see the lifelong friendship of jim and charlie.how many people can say they have a friend like this,considering they have lived in each others pockets for 50 years plus.As a kid,i just thought that simple minds sound was fuller than anyone elses.Especially through the city of light period.But now looking at albums like new gold dream,you realise just how far ahead they were for the time.What a band.All credit to the uploader.This documentary is a simple minds fans dream...thanks.

@@JCruzify1 If you mean Chrissie Hynde? Yes, they have a child together. Not a rumour. They were married for a few years in the 80s. 4 years I believe, 1986 to 1990.

Watched them live in small and large venues in Scotland, Wembley Stadium, beach resorts and tennis stadiums in Dubai before the last dance with the Minds at the Ross Bandstand in Princes Street Gardens.... what a band!

One of my favourite bands. Good film, however there should have been MUCH more on Derek Forbes and Mick McNeil, without whom they'd have never gotten anywhere near the success they have.
@Oh-MonkeyКүн бұрын
@@masseyhemenway2657 I agree. From what I've been reading, I believe that they turned down the opportunity to take part, whether true or not, who knows.

Thank you OM for posting this awesome docu' on YT 👍✨ Whilst (for me) the original band members (tight knit, so together) produced the most amazing, original sound to my youth (The American & Love Song etc. 👌👌🎶✨) it's clear Jim & Charlie have 'steered the evolution' of the whole SM concept into producing some very decent songs in more recent years, reflecting their own maturity and acceptance. My youth was enriched by having their music in the background. 💖✨
@Oh-MonkeyКүн бұрын
@@WeAreAllData65 You're welcome. There's some very mixed opinions about the band and their changes in direction and members. Their 80's music is certainly the most memorable. Still, credit to Jim and Charlie for keeping it going, and to their lifelong friendship.

Great documentary. Mel gave the band a groove which could never have been achieved with the other drummers. I think he is their unsung hero.

What was that snippet of song just before’Theme For Great Cities’ kicks in at the end? Sounds promising if it’s new.
@Oh-MonkeyКүн бұрын
@@Play4-d4d Someone else has asked the same. It appears to be something unreleased, maybe an outake from previous album recordings in the last few years. There's a good chance it could appear as a complete track on their next album.

closing song name please ?
@Oh-MonkeyКүн бұрын
@@bany512 If it's the closing song/music through the credits, it's Theme For Great Cities. If it's the song immediately prior to this, then it's something unreleased, maybe something that will be included on their next album.

Doesn’t really do the band justice, a bit superficial, but Derek, Mick and Brian didn’t want to participate. Simple Minds did fall apart, but some how for better or for worse Jim and Charlie have kept it going. I guess there’s something to be said for that. ❤

Lol, utter bullshit. With every member the Simple MInds lost from the original lineup, they became a bit less interesting. They shouldn't even be called like that anymore. Rather name it the Jim Kerr/Charlie Burchill Project.

I've never understood Simple Minds. Always loved them, but I sometimes think I'm their only fan. There were two other kids in school and recently I met an adult in 2022 who also liked Simple Minds. So i've never understood the stadium-filling thing. Still love them. Still don't get it. Its maybe similar to international sensation Elton John, I never met anyone who owned an Elton John album. But I do recall a time when everyone had Joshua Tree. Also, their genre, maybe Minds are like Depeche Mode or Duran Duran by now? I'm sure once they were too rock for the electronic crowd and too electronic for the rock crowd, then too much a 'sell out' for the punk/indie crowd. At times they're like a 'new age' act with synth and touches of guitar. They never stood still, every album different and that should've lost them legions of fans. I still don't understand it. Love them though.

If I were an aging / single pop or rock star I'd probably keep playing until I died... just to have some fun and bang some chicks and have something to look forward to. Getting rich or being rich is probably the worst thing that can happen to anyone. It completely sucks your drive and productivity. Same with relationships (marriages, etc). It's so easy to get comfortable (aka lazy) with some cash in the bank and a nice looking vagina to come home to every night.
