I also sleep in in the back of my X-Trail but with single camping air mattress and more gear! Interested to know how you get in and out? Side doors or rear hatch? I have done both and like side door because I can snib lock it for security, but rear hatch for the view and wider opening. And then there's the time the rear hatch accidentally closes and have to scramble over stuff to get out side door (I thought there would be an emergency inside latch, but ...?}

Enjoyed your video, it would be nice to know exactly what the sleeping length is and what was an average on fuel MPG on your trips. I am getting on a bit know but am seriously thinking off getting an X Trail and doing a trip of the Highlands. I will take a look at your other vids. Many thanks. Kim

The Nissan X trail is probably the best camping 4x4 car. I've done this to mine. 143,000 miles 2.2 DCI. absolutely trouble free. Nissan. Toyota. Subaru. Honda. Mitsubishi. I'll never know why people buy anything else.

Bit of a person question so no worries if you don't feel comfortable answering it, but I'm thinking of doing a European road trip that is relatively lengthy and I was wondering how much Did 4.5 months on the road end up costing you? Thanks a lot! :)

Congratulations. Four months of living in your car! Not sure I could do that :) Nevertheless, you've made it quite a cozy experience. The air bed is truly a great idea along with the pump! Looks like you are having fun.

We recently did a month of camping around Scandinavia and I can definitely vouch for the usefulness of the electric air pump! Ours actually charged via USB so we could power it up while driving and then use it at night - especially useful once our air mattress got a slow leak and we had to pump it up again every few hours 😂 Thanks for the tips!

@WalkaboutWanderer

Hi Jonathan, I find that as it isn't obvious that I am sleeping in the car, I can park anywhere. From a lay-by to car parks, from the car park of camp sites to normal streets. I used the wild as a toilet and either swam in the sea or rivers or used campsites (either by paying a small fee or by looking like I was meant to be there) or strangers showers. I even just pulled into a field one night as I switched it to 4x4

Very interesting! I've started doing this about 2 years ago, last one being this year in February, in the mountains, at -15 deg Celsius! One small issue, is going out the trunk, need to use the door. One tip: is more comfy with the head towards the end, the rear seats (just the bottom cushions) can be easily removed and stored in the front, gaining more space (I'm 1.88m height) :D
