@@kylechellino2579 Good guess but it looked like a Sentra or a Camry. There has been construction in this area for two years as the state is removing a toll booth and installing sound proof walls along the side of the highway. Traffic quite often suddenly slows down through here as a result. Someone wasn't paying attention.

Indeed, very unfortunate. Happy to know you were not involved in it. Appears that dashcam came in handy! I was just away at the Shark Tank and it happened to rain on the way home. The were a good 3 or 4 times I had to reach for those "handles" in the car, one involved locking the wheels up and letting the ABS save my life. But I didn't even bother pulling the footage, it wasn't that great.

I have one of these from 2012. that's been used to cool 3 rooms in a hot/humid climate from May-September. I've been amazed at what this little 5000 btu can do. It ran perfectly for 12 seasons, probably for about 18hrs/day, but as of 7/24 suddenly is not cooling well. I want the same model, but am a little worried about what I've read about the manufacturing of the new ones. Some say the compressor is now made by a Chinese corp.

Good to see your garden is growing well. We had a storm move in last night around 9, rained pretty heavy for about 5 or 10 minutes, and hadn't heard anything else all night. Probably the same storm. Never knew you could eat the tops of beets, great to know. Very sorry to hear about the losses to your family. Despite what's been going on in your life, I'm glad to see you didn't do what many others do, which is to disappear for 6 months, come back with a video entitled "Where I've Been" that basically says "been busy with work", and then disappear again, sometimes forever. Pruning? Yeah tell me all about it! Twice I filled up all 3 garbage cans full of stuff here. I pruned back one thing so much it may not come back. You're more of the horticulturist than I, so you'd likely know better, and obviously you'll see it when you're here.

I'm here and will still be around. Posting frequency may go down temporarily if life gets in the way but as Steve says on "The Life and Sad Ending" channel "I'll see you again soon unless I come to my own sad ending." I don't really know what I'm doing pruning but as long as I leave more than I remove they survive. Soon I'm going to have to do the front bushes. They're getting shaggy with new growth. I've been thinking about getting one of those hedge trimmers on a pole to help me reach the whole top of them. I have to about climb into the middle of the bush to get all the top done. As far as rain goes we got a little. Stuff was a little damp this morning but that was it. I was watching the Red Sox last night and they had a monsoon in Boston in the middle of the 2nd inning and eventually postponed the game. We got a little drizzle out of it. I'll have to fire up the sprinkler tonight and water it good.

@@tallboyyyy Somehow I never lost my posting frequency even when I was at Tiny Middle. You kind of have to be into it [making videos] to want to do it. I was, so I never lost my drive. But I also would marathon record, so I'd have stuff saved up. Funny you mention that, I need one of those myself. And I alsmost got one from China back when I reviewed the ALLOYMAN tools. They sold that, but it wasn't available and I kept telling them I was very interested. My contact at that company resigned, so I don't have anyone to ask anymore. They've also pared down their selection. But I keep putting off buying one because as soon as I do, China will send me one. That just happened the other day. Fortunately the item I bought was still within the return period so I sent that back and used the new one that was sent.

Hi there These old Kenmores were made by the John C Inglis Corp. Sears didn't start selling Whirlpool made until 1989(the direct drive ) this is still a great old machine, i first cut my teeth on the Inglis units in 1988. Can they were tough machines. I still see them every now and then.Thanks

According to the model number starting with 110.XXXXX indicates the manufacturer is Whirlpool Corporation. The 3 digit number before the decimal with all Sears products is a manufacturer code. 110 in Canada only indicates Inglis. 110 in the US indicates Whirlpool.

Maytag's are awsome. I have a 38 year old maytag stackable washer/dryer with a flat panel - no knobs or buttons and I'm still using it. They knew what they were doing when they built them back in the 80's.
@tallboyyyy
@tallboyyyy Ай бұрын
Maytag built things that were robust and heavy duty yet still simple in how they actually worked which made for very dependable appliances. Now things are made so cheaply and non heavy duty that they can't hold up to even modest use. A lot of this is directly due to government regulations about how much water can be used or how much electricity can be consumed. If you use a little bit of water then the machine has to run longer using more electricity. So they put in smaller motors that have to work harder causing them to wear out quicker but use less electricity. The government needs to leave appliance building to the appliance manufacturers and stop micro managing private industry.

Looking good! My carrots weren't the greatest this year, but will try them again in my fall garden. Too bad about the A#1 hybrids. Sounds like those were winners. Great way to honor your friend, Gary! My paternal grandmother also suffered a series of strokes that led to her demise. I have vivid childhood memories going to the garden center with her to pick out flowers, and vegetable seed. I didn't think at the time, but I found some seeds in a junk drawer, marked for the 1985 growing season, and should have grabbed them, as that was her last year to garden. I do have that garden on a Beta tape. I plan to upload a June, 1985 garden update.

Thanks for the plug on Jay's SHOUTcast! Alexa indeed will play it, but it's difficult to get her to understand. Enunciating very clearly sometimes works. Sometimes spelling it out as "Jay Ay Why Ess SHOUTcast" works. And then a combination thereof. I played around in both the Alexa and TuneIn apps and there's no way to link it there really. TuneIn allows you to cast to Chromecast devices, that's about it. Years ago in the Alexa App you could actually go to TuneIn and search for it but of course like KZbin, they got rid of good features like that. In fact, soon enough, I will be updating the SHOUTcast with the new songs for the past year. Yep, gardening is sure a lot of work. My time is taken up with the pool and tending to the few plants I have in the backyard. And cutting down various jungles. I've got the opposite of a green thumb, which I call a brown thumb, you can easily draw your own conclusions from that. I hope your garden does really well, always great when your hard work pays off.

I've got a Chamberlain, perhaps 6 years newer than that. I have not done any maintenance to mine. Occasionally it makes some strange sounds (the door, that is) but most times it just works smoothly. I have since looked it up and found that you never lubricate the track that the trolley is on as it will attract dirt and cause extra strain on the motor. You do lubricate the hinges in the door and the rollers but not the roller track. I guess you could lube the chain but I don't really want oil dripping onto my car.

I can just imagine how they do it. First $100 just to show up. Then a bunch more to take their time diagnosing the problem. Oh I'm sorry but we need to order the part. Then another 100 to show up the second time, $50 for a $20 switch that they probably did have in stock in the first place and only said they ordered to inflate the bill. Then an hour labor for 15 minutes of actual work to replace the switch. Total bill $350 to replace a part you could have bought on eBay for 6 bucks and after watching a 10 minute KZbin video, replace it yourself in less than 30 minutes of your own time.
