You should take a break, dude. Drawing that much for a long period of time can burn you out and cause artblock. You should just take a small break/focus on smaller details/practice smaller things for the time being, or at keast until you feel motivated to continue
@hedenistic17 күн бұрын
i think about this often! im doing my best to keep myself from burning out, though most of the time i dont talk about it explicitly. the amount of time i draw can range from 30 minutes to 4 hours, and sometimes im lazier with the editing (especially the subtitles). i do tell myself 'just give it five minutes and you can be done', but so far i have yet to actually quit at five minutes. i have many thoughts on this topic, so ill probably end up talking about it in a short sometime
@Link-x2s18 күн бұрын
Take a break, it’s important, if you keep draw and sketch you’ll probably be in a burn out very easily, so be patient and go easy with yourself

I think what you're missing is maybe an artstyle? If you like how it is now you don't need to change it, but there is a pretty good video that lavendertown made about artstyles and showed 4 different types and also different ways of coloring. And if you don't want to change artstyles you could always go back to proportions as they're the hardest to remember and draw
@hedenistic21 күн бұрын
i hadnt considered art style as an option, but that’s always felt more like a side effect of the way that people draw, not a conscious choice? ill need to consider this too… i ought to put together a portfolio of drawings or artists that i want to emulate, with the clear intention of studying them in mind

Choosing colors can be a very challenging process and understanding why and how colors work can be immensely frustrating. I suggest as you start not to think about colors super literally. Like for example the color black, don’t go all the way to pure black. Think about how in real life you can see shadows casted onto objects are black, and picking a pure black color digitally doesn’t really allow you to show those shadows. Instead pick a dark grey that the viewers brain can interpret as black. This goes for other colors as well. When something is red, don’t automatically pick the red that’s the most saturated. Think about what you want the viewer to focus on. A red scarf for example, if it’s important to the character maybe you really want it to stand out! Then you’d use a red that pops. Don’t make the other colors the same level of saturated until you know how to balance it out. Experiment with saturation and brightness. A tip I rely on maybe too much but might be helpful nonetheless for shading is using a multiply layer and shading your shadows a similar color to the surroundings or the light source. Idk if any of this makes sense but I hope it could help! While you’re at learning colors one of the most basic principles is something called value, I suggest looking into that. You’re doing fantastic and the work is hard but I believe in you!

I recommend you to choose the colors, don't think that it's part of the final drawing, you have to imagine that they are always a sketch, use a large brush and start doing as if they were just blurry shapes, and little by little you clean the details, you don't need to be very detailed, on the contrary, to choose colors you always see the general first, very general, as if the details were blurry. I'm a designer of video game characters and Vtubers, believe me, it's one of the best ways to visualize good design or a good color composition in general is also good for illustrations

I really enjoy seeing your progress each day! This paintings looks really good!
@the0black0bullet26 күн бұрын
I think u should try shading with a more saturated non black tones next time? Like if you need to shade light blue or blue generally using purple or darker blue work usually. Or if u r shading white light blue, purple or pink r nice somtimes and stuff like that. Using black can also work (unlike what some will argue that u should never use black for paintings or whatever) but if u r going with these fun colours the shading can also be fun! Like even if the clothes r black the shading can be dark red or purple (honestly purple works for almost everything lol) and u can also do a small amount of line art in the also in fun colours like oranges and blues and (u probably guessed lol) purples!
