Hi, I have a problem with my w124 200e, it starts but after a few seconds turns off, do you know what could be the problem? OVP is already been replaced

Hello, I apologize for the late reply but I am working on a very involved project and I have almost no time left at the moment. First I should mention that I have a similar problem with one of the w124's that I bought a few months ago. It has only been fired once or twice since I bought it and unfortunately when I had to fire it up the last time it didn't work. And due to the lack of time, I never tried to find out what was the reason for this. I just want to say that I have an obstacle like yours that I have yet to overcome. But back to your problem. I'm not sure if I can help you because there could be many reasons and to be honest these cars are always hard to diagnose. Even when the car can be inspected on site, let alone diagnosed remotely. I won't even try to give you a specific reason because there are many and I'd rather not guess it without information about the car. If I could give you advice, it would sound like this. When you decide to find out what is the cause of the problem, first find out from which system the problem comes from. When you start it again and it goes out check for spark and fuel. If there is no spark, you can look for the problem in the ignition system. For example, coil, commutator, computer, etc. However, if there is no fuel, you are looking for the problem in the fuel system. Here, however, even if there is fuel, the pressure in the fuel system is also a factor, because these cars work at high pressure, and that's where a problem can potentially come from. As I said there could be any number of reasons. Even they may be more than one. Which makes pointing out a specific problem without the necessary information almost impossible.

Hello, this Jaguar belongs to a friend, it is not mine. So I'm not a hundred percent sure but I think it's either 2001 or 2002. It's definitely before 2003. But that doesn't matter because I just checked in the Autodata I use and according to it the check plug is the same in the same place. Maybe someone has replaced the bolt at your check plug or double check and make sure you found the correct bolt.

Great video. Thank you for sharing your process. The cabin air filters aren't too difficult to replace. It is not necessary to open everything to the point you were at. There is a small cap that can be unscrewed where the screens are. You remove one filter at a time and reinstallation is reverse of removal.

I find the car as a whole interesting especially with this engine. It's not without its quirks, but that seems to be typical of this model. Good luck solving the odd problems, they are still interesting cars and worth keeping.

Can you replace de ac condenser without removing the intercooler and front bumper?
@the_amateur
@the_amateur 2 ай бұрын
Hello, first of all I want to clarify that I worked on this Mercedes two years ago, maybe even more since then. And I used the video to remember at least a little bit how the parts are positioned. In this case, I think that it will not be possible to replace it without dismantling the bumper and the cooler. If I'm not mistaken on this model the condenser of the air conditioner is located right under the radiators. To dismantle it there is a bolt in the center between the two tubes going into it. I don't think it could be unscrewed without access from the front of the car. I don't want to mislead you, and it might be good for you to look up more information on the matter. Unfortunately, I don't have such a Mercedes on which I could see if I'm right and give you a reliable answer to the question. The Mercedes in the video belonged to a friend, which has already been sold anyway.

Hello, when it comes to trees of this size it is always difficult especially when they are close to buildings. But if you give yourself enough time and make a good plan, you can do it. Of course it is important how much you can reduce the size of each piece to be safe. As you mentioned sometimes the tree is so big that even the small pieces are not that small. The important thing is to take your time and think things through. If it's so big that you can't handle it, it's a better idea not to do it. Safety comes first. Sometimes the risk is not worth it. But if you do decide to do it, I wish you good luck!

@the_amateur
@the_amateur 2 ай бұрын
I assume it's Audi 80 engines in this case. So far I have not worked on a 2.0 engine and have no experience with them. But the principle is the same. There are several 2.0 Audi 80 engines from this generation and it is hard to tell what the differences are because the engines are also different. One of the 2.0 engines is very close even identical to the 1.8 engine. The rest are not. Aside from engine size, the biggest difference comes from the fuel system. Injection method for both engines. I guess the size of the valves might be different. Maybe the intake, exhaust manifold to differ. It really depends on which engine it is.

I haven't worked on a similar engine for a long time, but as far as I remember, the front crankshaft oil seal can be replaced on the spot. Mercedes much earlier introduced very similar EFI system you show on the Opel. It was so long ago that they couldn't make the electonic control unit durable and probably cheap enough, so they returned to the continuous injection and developed it further.
@the_amateur
@the_amateur 3 ай бұрын
Thank you for the comment. Extremely useful and interesting. I have no doubt that Mercedes were capable of developing such a system at the time they used mechanical injection. They are the automotive company that has perhaps introduced the most improvements and innovative solutions in the automotive world. They were always one step ahead of others in one way or another. And this is where the bewilderment from my side comes from why they didn't switch to a more practical and reliable system than the mechanical injection earlier? When a company like GM used a similar system on a massive scale, what were they waiting for? But after making the video I looked up some information on the matter which shed some light on the potential reasons. I won't go into detail, and to be honest, I don't remember all the details, it was a long time ago, but what stood out as the main reason is practically the financial point of view. As always, costs determine the approach of companies, even if it is not the best solution, if it is the most profitable, then it is the right one. Leaving aside the production costs of each system as a more important factor in this case was another factor. Even if they were aware that there was a better system they could use especially in recent years and models of the mechanical injection it was more profitable to continue using it. Because a lot of money and time was invested in the development of this system, and they simply decided to use it as long as possible. Although they were able to go to the next level much earlier. I did not like this because it is a very serious compromise if true.

When I google this code, the same bearing comes up and I guess this number is correct. In case there is a discrepancy, you can try with 189 at the end of the code, but I think it is exactly 139. The axle seal is in the bearing itself on these gearboxes.

@the_amateur
@the_amateur 3 ай бұрын
Thanks for the cool comment! Unfortunately, I cannot say what exactly could be the cause of the problem you have with your gearbox. I assume there is no play on the shifter or somewhere on the rod to the box because that could make a difference. In case you feel resistance when you engage reverse gear, that means it doesn't engage as easily as the other gears, for example. The problem may be in the box. Maybe the synchronizer is damaged or the bushings of the lever that moves the gears. It's possible that one of the metal balls on the shifters is sticking for some reason. It matters if the box was left without oil or with not enough oil. But such problems are hard to tell without seeing the problem itself. On the channel I have a video with the same box but on a Renault Twingo which also had a very strange problem. But I had to go through it to figure out how to solve it.

Hello, I want to ask. If the white plastic under the speedometer sensor comes off (minute 1:00), can I install it by pushing it? I've tried pushing it from the speedometer hole, but it seems like it can't move anymore... Thank you very much if you can reply to this message.
@the_amateur
@the_amateur 4 ай бұрын
Hello! I'm not sure I understand what you mean when you say the white part is out. So I will explain how I interpret the situation and try to answer based on that. If you mean the white part came out of the gearbox for some reason it should in theory be able to go back into place. It's normal that it doesn't go anywhere when you push it because (here comes the weird part) this white part that I call the shaft doesn't actually mount anywhere if I may say so. In practice, this shaft simply rests on the bottom of the box. There is no bed or clip or anything provided for him. It is obtained so that when it rests in the gearbox and is pressed by the sensor above it is fixed in place. The only condition for this to happen is that the shaft fits into the hole of the small brown plastic gear from the video as in this shot : ( kzbin.info/www/bejne/lXu6gWucZrhsrdk ) . You need to make sure the gear is in place and you can fit the shaft to match. Once you can (I'll tentatively call it) click the shaft into the gear you can mount the speed sensor above them. In order for the shaft to fit into the gear, you need to match the small notches on the tip. And at the top end to fit the square hole with that of the speed sensor. This part is from memory not sure about it but if I am correct you will only be able to put the sensor back in place when the shaft (white part) is also in place. I mean the sensor clips fit into the holes. I hope you get what I'm trying to say the way I explained it.

Hey man a I have a piaggio typhoon 50 2t that wont start there is spark and fuel what should I do?
@the_amateur
@the_amateur 4 ай бұрын
Hi, I don't know where to start. To begin with, having fuel and spark is not enough because the ratio is also important, especially if there is too much fuel it may not ignite. If for some reason say the fuel valve did not close while the engine was at rest and the engine was flooded with fuel it will not start. If the muffler or air filter is clogged it won't start either. It matters at what moment the spark appears and whether there is no mechanical damage that would change the moment of ignition. In the engine, there must be metal plates under the cylinder that need to move and if they block it will not work either. The spark plug, even if it has a spark, may be worn out and practically unable to ignite the fuel. And last but not least, it matters if there is compression and in what condition the engine is. There are too many things that can cause a problem and I can't give a definite answer to this question. It could be something simple or it could be a serious problem. Hope you find a solution to the problem.

On the Mercedes W201, the boxes with fuses and relays are located in the same place as on the W124 in the video. They differ in size, one box with relays is smaller than the main box with fuses and the main relay that I replaced in the video. fuseandrelay.com/mercedes/w201.html

taking a good look I can say this engine is really in bad condition. The regular check was not good. No adictive or not the oil change every 5000 km. Thanks for sharing

You are right this engine has not been serviced on time and most likely the correct oils and additives have not been used for it. But besides that, he had quite a few technical problems, one of which was that he overheated to some extent. Which also contributes to the poor appearance of the engine and its components. Thank you for your comment!

After watching you cleaning/testing your fuel injectors ,my questions now is what was the opening pressure of all the injectors? and were they leak proof?
@the_amateur
@the_amateur 7 ай бұрын
Hello! This video was shot a year and a half ago, maybe more, and I don't remember exactly everything in details, but I'll try to answer you. I know for sure that when I started I set the pressure to be like that in the Mercedes fuel system. As far as I know it's a high pressure system and operates at between 5 and 6 bar pressure. That's why I set the compressor to 6 bar if I'm not mistaken. After that I think I lowered it to 4.5 bar. I also think the injectors were opening around 2 or maybe 3 bars. They seem to open and close normally with no leaks. But it was definitely hard to get any consistent results with these tests because the amount of liquid the system held was not enough. My main goal was to try to clean them as much as possible without an sonic bath or other similar method that I don't currently have access to. To be honest I did this more out of curiosity because I checked how much new injectors cost and they weren't so expensive that I would go overboard trying to potentially fix the old ones. The other and more important reason is that I don't intend to use this system for much longer and I don't see the point of investing extra money in it. Even before buying the car, my plan was to modify the fuel system, which makes large investments in the old system pointless.

Hi! Honestly I can't say exactly it depends on the market where the car is sold. But I will make a guess, lets say it should cost at least 5 - 7k euros or 6 - 8k dollars maybe even more.
