I agree, I got both lowrance 3 and 1 hds live and bird g3n and have to say I think both are great units but I like looking at the birds images a little better. They really did step the game up with the mega+. Good video!

Lawrence live with 3 and 1 transducer blows everyone out of the water for side imaging. With range and image combined nobody can touch them.

Garmin was actually the 1st to do high def SI and DI. Had it on my 1040xs back in 2015. Clearvu and Downvu.

I'd like an updated video with the new active imaging ducer. I'm a Lowrance guy too and agree with the last guy. The images on the birds are very impressive in side imaging, id say better than the Lowrance hds Gen 3s

What is the max HD horizontal range you can get with the Humminbird Mega in shallow(10' to 20') water? I've noticed with my Mega I can only get good HD images 60' to 80' from the boat. Outside of that range most objects are indiscernible.

Yes they are nice new and pretty. BUT I'll stick with my old 1999 ranger r71 . And stay in the reality world..

Why didn't you give us a side by side comparison of the two units on the same structure?? You are clearly running both in SI right on your dash during the video and you show us grainy pictures from a lowrance (something is wrong with that install) and great pictures with the mega. Then you spend the whole video telling us how great mega is. The whole video sounded extremely biased. I have both on my boat, not partial to either brand.. I just don't think you actually showed any evidence or any "close up comparisons" at all. Just shared an opinion and some biased stored images. Why not move the camera to overhead of yourself looking down on a brush pile and go over it with both units to show an actual comparison?

The only way to own one of them is if you're already a pro. I can only imagine the price.I'll stick with my Nitro.

Lowrance guy here… but I've been really considering that new hummingbird. Unless lowrance matches the new mega imaging, I maybe switching

I had two Lowrance units the 300 series with GPS 5" screen. I decided to get a new fish finder back in 2008. I called Cabela's and a technical guy got on the phone and gave me information on what is available. He talked about Lowrance and Humminbird. At that time June of 2008 he said Humminbird had been bought and the new owners put a lot of money into the sonar technology. He said from what he knew Humminbird had made some great improvements giving them the best sonar at the time. I bought the 797C2 unit. It has side imaging but I never could see fish but once in a while. Plus I believe the small screen was part of the problem seeing a white dot or small white return. The 797C2 worked very well. I only sent the unit in once because of side imaging not working very well and turned out the transducer was bad and replaced. The two Lowrance units I had to send in repeatedly and that got to be a common occurrence. Part of the reason I bought the Humminbird was because we had a family gathering planned at a lake and no fish finder. Sending the unit in meant I would have no fish finder for several weeks. I bought a Garmin unit Nov 2016. Had some really great features and great support. It was lacking in the side imaging. I was told Garmin has great side imaging but I never seen it. I reluctantly sold the unit and now have the Humminbird Helix Chirp Mega Si G2N. Two times out and very vivid side imaging and other screens. I'm not real impressed with the Auto Chart Live compared to the Garmin unit. Garmin the recording maps is built in the unit. Recordings save to a SD Card. Garmin records a wide path. Humminbird records using the narrow 200 kHz beam, which means lot of going in different directions to cover an area. Really poor and no one talks about that. Garmin also has a web page that you can download recordings that other people have made and uploaded. The area by our house on the Willamette River navigation maps end. I found the recording that someone did of the area and downloaded and added to my SD Card. Garmin only uses the recorded map no waypoints or other data is used just the map. I then recorded more of the area to complete most of the map. Humminbird you have to find someone that is recording in the same area and get a copy from them. Humminbird needs to improve the map recording width and create a web page for Humminbird users to share maps. Sure some people have a special spot that they want to keep secret. That is fine. The way Garmin does it is when you record a file is created. That file is what is uploaded to their share location and checked and approved and put on the Garmin Connect website. If you record a private area all you have to do is delete the file that is created for upload before recording a more popular area.

I bought this boat, got the outboard version with the 150 Mercury. Just picked it up 4/8/17 ,took it out to break in Sunday 4/9/17 Handles great , steering is hard . Motor is really quite , even at speed. Trim needs to be all the way down or the prop will ventilate if you tray to bring the bow up, even with 4 adults on board, little slow for my liking with this engine. 30mph at 4200rpm motor likes to run at 4200 to 4400 rpm. max speed 37 mph at 5100 rpm, three blade 19 pitch prop.Hole shot is OK not to much bow raise . the boat is 25' long with engine up. not 22' over all very happy with My new boat Always have loved the handling of Bayliners .
