Thanks for the video, i have 18 acres of wild Rhodie to cut and clear.. I can not burn as the leaves and wood are toxic and can cause lung issues.. do you get any irritation when you burn it?

NOT illegal to plant in your garden get your facts right. I grow it and so do my neighbours. You have balsam bashing parties we have balsam popping parties. Himalayan balsam is listed on Schedule 9 of the Wildlife and Countryside Act in England and Wales. It's therefore an offence to plant or otherwise cause it to grow in the wild. It's not an offence to grow Himalayan balsam in gardens but you must not let it escape into the wild.

Hi Gerald. I watch your video each and every year before heading to fish the Autumn spates on my local river. The simple and relaxed way you teach these casts is absolutely brilliant and after watching loads of other casting videos which seem to overcomplicate things I always come back to yours. I am forever grateful to you. Take care. Dave 😊👌

Hi Christine - yes, it isn't the best sound quality but on this occasion is the best we could achieve. We'll be working on improving this in future.

A commentary might be good ie what fly date and temperature
@WestcountryRiversTV2 жыл бұрын
Thanks Ross - we can ask James for the info
@WestcountryRiversTV2 жыл бұрын
Hi Ross - the trip took place in May of 2021, the temperature was mid-teens through most of the day with it peeking around 15-16c. A mix of Klinkhammer flies that imitate hatching olive mayfly and Caddis were used as the dry flys, the nymphs used would have been a mix of olive mayfly and caddis pupa imitations such as an olive PTN and Grannom Pupa.

Tiny fish. I fish a river very similar to this in North Wales and I'd consider a good fish to be 12 inch plus.

Is this yet another talking shop. I would have liked to hear of something being done
@WestcountryRiversTV2 жыл бұрын
Hi John -The primary aim of the Devon & Cornwall Soils Alliance is to build capacity and capability in soils advice across Devon and Cornwall. Raising the quality and ensuring alignment of soils advice to Land Managers is important to improve overall soil management. This mini conference looks back over the work done by the project. It looks at the two focused delivery areas on the Allen and Corry Brook; starting at 1h:34m, you will find the section that covers more direct assessment and delivery with Land Managers. Findings from these areas are also being used to design future projects. I hope that this helps.

and what's happened to the Weevils?
@WestcountryRiversTV2 жыл бұрын
Hi - The weevils only eat Water Fern/Azolla, so once they have exhausted their food supply from an area such as Budshead Pond they will either fly off to find the next patch of Water Fern to feed on, some will naturally die off at the end of their lives. Some may overwinter in the pond, ready to either feed on any Water Fern should it come back in the Spring, or again fly off to the next patch that they find. Because they feel solely on Water Fern they will not have any negative impact on any other species.
